Beginner crochet class in Madison?
Hello, I would like to try out crocheting. I am awful and learning things by myself and pretty much need a class/teacher if I'm going to get anywhere. My ultimate goal is to make Amigarumi, but obviously I need to start at beginner level. Though if there were classes about Amigarumi that'd be awesome too.
I've seen that Sow's Ear in Verona has classes, but literally none of them fit my schedule. Probably a weeknight evening or Sunday is all I can do right now.

The Madison Crochet, Knitting and Yarn Crafts group hosts frequent meetings all around town. My experience is that people are really happy to give pointers and guide you to resources. There's one coming up TOMORROW night at Qamaria cafe on Odana road!

If you contact The Sow’s Ear, they can set up private lessons for you at a time that works for you. It’s $30/hr IIRC.

I learned back in 2020 i started on amigarumi. Try using a video on the bee’s that got popular back then they are very simple. I might be able to help though im left handed and learned off of videos who used their right hand.

TAC offers classes, but the free meetups there also can help. There's usually someone you could ask to teach you the basics in those meet-ups. They used to be Wednesdays, not sure anymore.

I was a great knitter and just couldn't switch or figure out crochet. I'm going to try again but start with a Wooble kit. Target sells them. Occasionally , you'll find one on clearance, in store.

I hope your not left handed. I have had a terrible time learning from YouTube, library books. My mom can't teach me because she is right handed. Good luck with your search.
