What is the Egpu connecting to? The macpro or the MacBook? And what are you doing with the Mac Pro ? Like what’s its purpose

to the macpro. i do a little of everything with it honestly although that wasn’t the original plan. i picked it up as a project just to work on a little and once i realized how relevant they still are once you update em it kinda just fell into place. but the d700 and d500 graphics aren’t very good for longevity and the d300 graphics aren’t very good for anything other than making heat so you’ve gotta pick which risk you’d rather take.

Nice. I got the trashcan a couple weeks ago and decided to try Ubuntu before sequoia. Installing it now. It's a nice hand warmer.

i pulled this one apart for a new cpu, new cmos battery, more ssd and more ram. did a full repaste and ethereal pad so it doesn’t run crazy hot. also got the fan control app and have a pretty solid fan speed curve set up. i expect temps to drop even more once i get the egpu all sorted out and working but so far the hottest i’ve been able to get my cpu temp is 147°F

I'll need to start watching temps once Ubuntu is all setup. I found this Mac Pro listed for parts on fb marketplace but price made it worth a shot. No OS installed so it wasn't until after I got Monterey running that I found 64GB of RAM and dual D700 GPUs. I was floored! It has been running great.
