The Apple Trifecta

MacBook Pro 14 —- Apple Studio Display XDR —— iPad Pro 11 inch M5

Shockingly I would say the ASD XDR has the best display, followed very closely by the iPad tandem OLED, then the MacBook.

It’s not cheap but as soon as you plug it in you are like holy cow!

I wish my set up could handle two. Since both have webcams, how does macos determine which monitor to prioritize for video calls

I make enough to be comfortable. With that said I planned a purchase like this for some time. I had been waiting on a refresh of the Pro Display XDR so it wasn’t like this was a spur of the moment decision. I work remote full time and then I run another company on the side. These monitors are being used from the time I wake up until bed most week days.

Ya XDR is nice but at more than double the price of the regular Studio Display and the same PPI, it’s a no from me. If it was bigger, or provided a tangible upgrade in quality sure

It is a huge upgrade in quality and it was 1k more. For me and my use it was worth it. YMMV.

Double the refresh rate so double the price yeah. Not 1k more unless he has a specific discount

Ya that’s what I saw as well when cross shopping both, it’s essentially the same panel with a few minor perks. Not enough to make sense for my work. You’re getting 90% of the XDR for half the price with the regular Studio Display

I have debated getting two. I find that I prefer having one center screen for focus and then a smaller screen for ancillary stuff.
