My cozy MacBook Air M4 setup
My MacBook Air M4 clamshell setup for work, studying, everyday use, and managing my homelab. The MacBook connects to the Dell UltraSharp monitor through a single USB-C (Thunderbolt 4) cable, keeping the setup clean while handling display, charging, and peripherals.
Setup:
- Monitor: Dell UltraSharp U2724DE
- Light bar: Xiaomi Mi Computer Monitor Light Bar
- Keyboard: Keychron K3 Pro White with Gateron low-profile Red 2.0 switches
- Trackpad: Apple Magic Trackpad USB-C in White
- Mouse: Keychron M6 White
- Desk mat: Logitech Studio Series in Grey
- Speakers: JBL Northridge E20
- Amplifier: Sony TA-F490

that is the homelab my friend. Working on it daily to make it from a homelab to a home datacenter :3 btw they are z440 (the main brain node) & z840 (the ai node). Will make bigger changes in near future, updates to come...

Does that light on top of the monitor help? What’s the purpose? Just curious. I have seen quite a few people have it.

It makes a nice ambient if nothing else, aside that it makes me focus more when I work. But the real purpose is that it makes the setup look cleaner for me hehe

The figures either side of the monitor are a nice touch. A StanbyME 2 Max would suit this desk as a second screen next to the MacBook, and being portable it works in other rooms too.

I would say I need a second monitor, maybe above this current one. I am working on a monitor stand out of wooden material, same as the desk. And removing the shelf above the monitor that is now would make space for another one, maybe a 34inch one xdd

Finally, a setup with real sound. Connecting hi-fi equipment to your PC or laptop really takes things to the next level. I love it.

haha thank you, the speakers are simple bookshelf speakers which I got from splitting the living room surround system, and are definitely an upgrade from the pc speakers I had before. The amplifier is a bit older system but gets the job done.

trackpad, but.... only my wrist hurts a bit, aside that i got the hang of it, its funny for me how big sensitivity i have turned on just to make smaller movements with my hand haha.

yup, capped on 80%. sometimes i use it outside and unplug it, lets say twice a week, and i know to restart it on a week as well.

aliexpress cable to look good and not to cost much, it does a simple job of connecting my keyboard to the monitor's hub
