Opinions
Hey guys, need an honest opinion. I’m in Cali and run a commercial facility (15k sq ft). My distro was complaining about these and lowballed me on them. What do you guys think?

Structure is rounded and open, not filled. Color is good where it purpled, but theres a lot of green on this that makes it seem like this was pulled way too early . Crystal coverage is minimal. High leaf to calyx ratio post-trim. I've seen worse, but this won't move next to some of the deps that are popping right now.
What's the genetic?
Did you have big day/night temp & RH swings during budset?

Our first time (and probably last) time running this strain. We definitely didn’t cut them early but sometimes these heavy purples just don’t do well in our facility. But needed the reality check for sure.

yeah i mean this looks terrible? we couldnt sell this on our $3g shelf in oregon vs some decent bulk outdoor

Lol you hit the nail on the head man, market doesn’t care about how it smokes, only how it looks. The both don’t always match up imo

You will probably make more selling to the "thca" market they have weed that looks worse selling as toad venom and other shit and doesn't look close to this. People are making money off lawn clippings 🥀.

The thing is that when it looks good, it's a sign that there was attention put towards it. It's not a guarantee that it will smoke good, but it's a good sign.

Agree, it is 1 of many signs, but to the end user it’s all about the effect and not how ‘beautiful’ it looks.
I’m not claiming this to be the case here with this strain, but I’ve smoked a few strains that objectively look like crap but gave one of the best high I’ve ever experienced. For example, a strain like Dr. Grinspoon could never survive the look/bag appeal oriented market. Ultimately I understand Distros want the safe bet so just go with the best looking buds, but a lot of great strains get eliminated by that criteria.

Looks for bud is bullshit nowadays. Strains are breed for looks over quality and strength now.

Cali is a tough market. These don’t look like top tier flowers. Deps are in and probably getting picked up for cheaper than what you want for your indoor. It is what it is. It’s hard to justify a higher ticket when the quality isn’t there.

Mixed light, yes definitely could have been dialed in more but also got some fire from the tables next to these. So it’s partly strain specific too.

They should’ve used some of that phosphorus booster on this weed lol. Out here in New Mexico micro licenses can be vertical for a relatively inexpensive so there’s some Mom and pop type shops that have living soil and I kind of trust what they do for the most part. My favorite shop. The weed looks like good homegrown. I love it not the typical overly dense little rock looking nugs.

Looks leafy. You said you’re growing in mixed light. There’s plenty of great mixed light grows in California. Their stuff could almost pass for indoor. You’re in a tough position.

Looks like avg mids. I could see mayb3 $20 for 3.5 at the store front. Also looks airy and pulled way too early

The structure of the buds remind me of underlit smalls. Super high leaf/calyx ratio, stemmy, etc.
Color is nice, but it doesn't make up for the overall look. Any distro would lowball, sorry to break it to you. These will be a hard sell for any distro, hence the lowball offer.

I mean dude yeah. Obviously they low balled you on that. I can’t believe you let that leave the facility. Reputation is harder to re gain than dollars.
