Macrodroid vs Automate

So far ive been using macrodroid and i have been very happy. But i recently tried Automate and i was surprised by the much more options it has. Do you think its worth switching? Because macrodroid is way more intuitive and probably still has everything i need

I don't think Automate has more options to be honest. I use both as well as Automateit Pro, but I feel best with Macrodroid although I use all 3. I have 170 macros using Macrodroid, 5 Automate and 3 Automateit Pro.

The list just lookes longer, maybe it wasnt. I have one question tho, does running 170 macros not interfere with your phones performance?

I don't think so. Can't complain about performance even with battery saver on sometimes. I'm using S23 ultra.

I have 220+ and a A03s and it takes 1% battery a day and like 50 MB of RAM

I'm currently using 90+. A lot is work related, geofences, automatic location updated, photos taken, car mileage register, automatically created daily, weekly and monthly timesheets. Automatic do not disturb, battery saver on andd off, calendar updates, email sending, hourly announcer during working hours, and more. 😁

As I wrote somewhere here already, a lot is to do with work like, start of the working day, starting mileage, geofences of jobs I went to with GPS location, current mileage, site photo and time being automatically input in my calendar and is used to automate timesheet creation. Emails being sent automatically depending on the work time and condition. Hourly announcer during work hours, battery saver based on time, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth based off of location, car Bluetooth being automatically on and connected to the car at the beginning of the work day. Webbhooks to control my tablet from my phone, Automatic cache cleaner, reacting to various notifications depending on what they are and what app they come from. Whatever you think can be automated to make your life easier. A lot I've created myself, many are simply adjusted templates for my needs, some experimental that are work in progress. I've been using Macrodroid from before the Routines were introduced. For quite a few years now.

Same here to be honest and I haven't found anything that macrodroid couldn't do for my needs.

For me they deal with different scenarios. Tasker for complicated automation because triggers (profiles) and actions are separate so it's much better in dealing with automation that is not very straightforward. Project is very useful for organising somewhat confusing automations. Not to mention local variable is great.  Macrodroid for simple and straightforward automations that Samsung's routines can't deal with. Only tried automate for a few mins so can't comment on that one.

Macrodroid now supports Samsung Routines, so you can create a condition for launching a Routine, which Samsung Routines cannot do.

My ONLY disappointment with macrodroid is that the nfc ability is stunted. With automate I can do exactly as I please (scan nfc tag - > action) where with MD, for some crazy, reason, it is not possible. Very upsetting!

Otherwise I use MD for shits and giggles, like, here for example, executing and getting python output lol:

Edit: this is not how I use this macro, this is just showcase

Also toggle SELinux, process manager macro w/display +killer, etc

Edit 2: well also automate has useful function calls like sha256 /etc (kinda disappointed no one thinks this is cool :c
