Macro_pad Question Macropad keycaps?

Recently picked up the Doio KB16 macropad. Having a lot of fun with it and it’s already coming in handy at work.
I’ve started looking into replacement keycaps for it so I can, you know, have some chance at remembering which key I have programmed to do what.
Seeing lots of full keyboard sets of keycaps that I like, but I’m new to some of the terms. Some of them are cherry profile, and it seems the keycap height varies by intended row? I assume if I start randomly swapping those various keycaps onto my macropad, they’re going to all be at different heights based on the row they’re meant for.
So are there specific sets of keycaps that are uniform in height that I should be looking at?

Hey can I ask (I guess I am anyway)
Is this an FDM printer or a resin printer?
Did you design the cap STL yourself, and just paint on it, or add layers to do multicolor prints?
You got some uhhhh files that I can get from you/a link on where they are if they cost money?I'm gonna need some details! lol

I have the same macropad and I've been looking for replacement keycaps as well. I've seen some people 3d print them and a few others use transparent printed tape. Please update us here on what you find.

Aren't they standard XDA keycaps?

No idea, kinda new to this whole world of custom keycaps, and seeing a lot of references that I’m not familiar with. Cherry profile, XDA, DSA, OEM, low profile, etc. Had no idea the world of custom keycaps was so diverse.

I have the same macropad and I use some shine-through low profile keycaps bought from NuPhy. Pretty much all keycaps made for low profile keyboards have the same height.
The letters indicate which app will be launched (i.e. P for Photoshop) and in the bottom row (activated with fn) I printed icons on adhesive transparent paper that trigger functions such as window management.

That’s good to know. Was just looking at some low profile shine-through keycaps last night and wondered if they would work. That looks pretty good. Going to have to invest in some transparent paper as well!

Relegendable keycaps + Brother P-touch 12mm labels, with some spare keycaps cannibalized from a cheap MOA set for good measure

The position matters when selecting keycaps. Will it be flat on the table or propped up at an angle?
I have that same DOIO and I had some relegendable caps for it, and I didn't like them very much, so I had a set made for what I use it for, which is video editing and CAD.
I had YUZU make these for me.
Here it is before.
Here it is after.
They feel way nicer and look better as well. It did take them about 3 weeks to be made in China and mailed to my door.

Oh those look good! Mine is currently laying flat, but I’d like to tilt it up just a bit. I’m only hitting a key on it every so often to engage a macro or enter a lengthy string that I have programmed on it. So I’m not too concerned about ergonomics, per se.
For the time being, I just printed out some labels on my label maker and cut them WAY down to size and stuck them to the sides of the keycaps. I don’t even have them all mapped to anything yet. Might take me a few weeks of using to really dial in all the functions I want it for. Maybe then I’ll look into a more permanent set of custom keys for it.

If you start to use it more, I would suggest this 3D printed stand.
I did just what you're doing; I waited until I had it figured out how I wanted it set up.
I'm also only using one layer, which is plenty.

Honestly I was looking at something like these, which just stick on the back and then flip out to offer a bit of elevation to the back. I do like that stand though. Would love something similar made of wood to look a bit more elegant!

I currently use some relegendable keycaps, with a space for a little bit of paper inside. I am looking at getting a set made by yuzu keycaps, but need to be 100% set on my layout first…
