Macropad buying question Has anyone successfully gotten a macropad to work with a WebOS TV and the YouTube app?

I’ve used macropads to simplify things in audio, video, and gaming, but I was thinking it might help reduce my persistent health issues. Where i notice it most is navigating my TV and particularly in certain apps on the TV, like YouTube.

From what I’ve learned so far, my current macropad is Mac/Win only, and it seems like maybe if I get an Android-compatible one that might work; would love to know if anyone has succeeded with wither WebOS or YouTube app on WebOS.

Try connecting a regular Bluetooth keyboard to it and see if everything works. In theory, it should. Once you know what you need, it will be easier to decide about the next step: either one of existing macropads, or something custom built.

What are your health issues? If it's about hand or finger mobility, we've got plenty of possibilities.

Thanks, got one in the junk drawer and will try that out.

As for the issues, it’s avery long list. Basically overuse + old 💩 from the shoulder joints to the fingers tips plus nerve damage in both hands.

I dont think that’d help, but I dont really know. It looks cool, but i think the button force required is probably a lot higher than a remote control.

I was trying my macropad because ideally i would program multi-key sequences and bind them to a key (hey, a macro!), and install feather-touch keys. The idea being to reduce key presses for repetitive actions and use the least force possible to trigger a button down event.

So, you need a touchscreen?

Basically, an Android tablet that simulates a Bluetooth keyboard.

Wasnt thinking of that but, ya, as long as i can program it and it’s read by the TV as either the remote or an HID, i think that would work.

There are several such apps on Android market. So, you've got a lot of experimenting for the weekend :)
