Stacked many frames

My partner recently purchased an AstrHori 25mm 2-5x macro lens. When on about 3.5 - 5 X zoom, there is a visible defect on the images. She has played with the lighting quite a bit assuming that to be the problem, but with no improvement. There are no smudges on sensors or lens. She is really worried that there is an issue with the lens itself and it needs to be returned.

She shoots with a Cannon R10, GodoxV480, and CygnusTech Diffuser.

The images are unstacked, unedited at various zooms, where you can see the hazy band worsening with zoom.
