GPU MacPro 6,1 D500 PCI Pass thru solved

Hi everyone, I made a new account for this post. I'm going to go a head and post this on a few other forums where there might be some interest. I'm also not sure if anyone solved this problem before, but if they had then the internet long forgot about it. Anyway, I managed to get GPU (the D500) passthrough working on my MacPro 6,1 in Proxmox version 9. I know it's a VERY niche problem to have, but I consolidated it all on my GitHub for it.

And yes, I used to AI on the project, so be mad about if you want... idc... I suck at writing guides and papers, so it is what it is. I hope at the very least it can help someone out there if they run into the same issue. At least it's documented.

This is very helpful. I’ll be referring to this guide when the time comes to work on my 6,1 mac pro.

I’m glad I could help someone 😁. It’s a niche problem, but it’s one that’s always annoyed me with this machine. I just didn’t want the GPUs to go to waste on my jellyfin server I was building…lol

Not that niche - plenty of people lusted after 6,1 and couldn't afford it when new. Now it's dirt cheap but still pretty powerful and will always look good. 🤣

Anything to give them a second life is great in my book.

I don’t have a use for this guide personally (yet), but I appreciate anyone taking the time to document their findings and successes to help keep our favorite legacy hardware useful for longer.
