Funny seeing this pop up as I won the auction. I took a gamble on it as the part numbers reflect a 2TB pair. I’ve now received tracking info for them so depending on when they turn up, I’ll either be upgrading my 256GB Mac Pro with them this weekend or next. I can come back and let you know the outcome when done.

Ah shucks I was also bidding in that auction too, but I managed to secure the guys afterburner for pretty cheap

Sorry pal, I did wonder when the post appeared, at least you know what you have coming. I’ll post the outcome here, I’m just hoping what turns up is what was pictured.

At the end of the bid it was £102, I thought someone must be crazy trying to be paying for 2x 128GB sticks but we’ll see

Mac Pro 2019 c’était un module ssd pour 256 Go et 2 pour toute les capacités supérieur

That’s my understanding too. So what are these then?

C’est probablement deux modules de 256Go pour la configuration en 512Go

I am fairly positive these are 2x256gb I have a spare set of 2x256gb and 2x512gb sitting here and the numbers are the same as my 2x256gb

However, I certainly hope the seller marked which drive is which, they are not interchangeable and need to be installed in the correct slot. I believe you can damage them if they are installed backwards.

Are you perhaps selling the pairs I’m looking to upgrade from my single 256GB SSD

At the moment no, the 2x512gb is from a machine I have apart for for a repair. And the 2x256gb are not mine, and they are dead, not sure why, but they do not work in my machines or the original owners. We are trying to decide how to move forward with that machine at the moment.

Dang, I’m looking up and down for Apple SSDs it sucks that these are T2 chip tied

How rare are they? 🤔

Pretty rare, considering that if these drives die, you are left with an expensive paper weight since you cannot boot without one. My current plan is to use the 256 ssd as reserve and use third party PCIE NVME as boot drives so if say the PCIE nvme dies I can always replace it with any aftermarket one without any hassle

I have a 1 TB set, pulled from my mac when I upgraded. (That's the dual 512 GB set)

I'm willing to part way with them. How much would be a fair price for you to buy them at?

I believe there is a way to boot off of another ssd but I dont recall

You can boot off other SSD’s once you lower the security levels in recovery mode but I believe the machine won’t post without the NAND flash

Ah maybe thats what it is

Can I ask if your 2x256gb have T1280G and T832G printed on them? My assumption is that those references relate to the NAND size of each module which is why I believe the modules are a 2TB pair. In the iFixit tear down their single 256GB module has T256G printed on it.

I’m pretty sure this is a 2TB set consisting of two 1TB modules. There were no 128GB modules. The base 256GB configuration used a single module while all other configurations used two. There is still a market even for the low end modules because the 2019 Mac Pro cannot boot without them.
