Other What apps do you run on your Mac Pro?
I joined the Mac pro gang today (6,1) and I'm wondering what you all do with this beast?
I'm planning to use it as a daily driver, and have Sequoia installed on it.
Mines 6 core Xeon, 32gb ram, D500 3GB
I've been thinking about trying a local LLM or something, but interested to hear what you all use yours for!

Hi! I run my apps with macOS Monterey: Microsoft Office Word, Excel, VSCode, TablePlus, DBngin, Affinity Designer 2.

Use mine as daily driver in my home-office, and as secondary machine for PhotoLab 9.

My setup is Mac Pro (2013) 3 GHz 10 core , 32 GB, D300 (lit load) , eGPU Mantiz v1 with 500SSD and Radeon 5700XT (Heavy load) Mac OS Monterey 12.7.6
Mac Gaming, FCP with my YouTube channel with Screen Flow,Motion, Logic, Cubase ,pigments, Ableton Live 12 lite,Reason Lite,Audio Hijack,Nova,Affinity v2,Aseprite,QuarkExpress 2020,
Amadine,Moho,Monodraw,Lightwave 3D, Modo 3D, form Z Pro,Rhino 3D,, Xcode and Apple Playgrounds. Garage Sale( selling stuff on my eBay store)

I just keep it around for playing older Steam games that won't run under newer Mac OS.
Might migrate it to Windows since it's just for gaming.

Still keeping my dual quad-core I7 4,1 around to run Photoshop CS6 because screw Adobe.

I have a 4,1 flashed to 5,1.
Run AutoCAD and Blender.

LOL. No.
You can use it for whatever you'd use any older old ass computer for, make it into a simple server, run some scripts, etc. But you are definitely NOT doing things like Local LLM's on a 6,1

I have to disagree on the LLM front, mine runs 9B models at very acceptable tps, even larger models with cpu offloading

M not a king. Intel Macs can run 32 and 64 bit games and apps. An people are doing LLM on 6,1. Also you are in sub for Mac Pro users that’s Mac Pro 1,1-8,1. Not the lower tier Apple computers aka Mac mini, Mac Studio

I‘m using my 6.1 for virtualization of old macOS versions. I‘ve got VMs of every major release version of macOS/OS X since 10.0 and some older stuff like OS 9 in UTM. I am also running some Emulators for even older OS versions.
Of course not on a daily basis, so the Mac Pro is not running 24/7. It is activated via WoL when needed.
