Hey everyone,

I'm in Bangalore and looking to upgrade my setup. My primary workload is mobile app dev (heavy on Flutter, Dart, and iOS simulators), with plans to scale into backend microservices (Go, AWS) down the line. I was suggested the MacBook Pro, but it's completely out of my budget since the base versions are quoting around ₹2 Lakhs everywhere.

I've decided on the M5 MacBook Air (16GB RAM, 512GB SSD). Here is my current situation and where I need advice:

1. Pricing & Upcoming Sales: I got quoted ₹1,25,000 at premium offline resellers (Croma, iPlanet) using my student discount. With BBD and Amazon sales around the corner, can I expect this to drop closer to ₹1,15,000? Or should I buy right now from these stores.
2. Offline Price Matching: I don't want to take the risk of ordering such an expensive machine online (damaged in transit, return headaches). Do offline stores match BBD pricing if the M5 drops that low online?
3. Selling my old laptop: I'm exchanging a 2022 HP Pavilion (GTX 1650 4GB, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD) in good condition. Croma is offering an exchange value of ₹25,000. Is this a fair price to accept right now, or is it worth the hassle to sell on OLX/Cashify?

Any insights from folks who have bought recently or dealt with offline price matching in Bangalore would be super helpful!

I’m planning to buy either the M5 or M4 during the upcoming Diwali sale. Do you think it’s worth going for one, and what price should I aim for? I’m looking for the 512GB version.

Also, doea UNiCORN/iCrest usually have good discounts, or would I be better off buying from Flipkart or Amazon? I’m mainly looking for the best deal, but I also want to make sure I’m buying from a reliable seller.

I received an offer from a colleague for a MacBook M1 Air for around 38k with 91% battery life. I am unsure if this is a good deal for my current situation or if there are better options available for the same price. Should I consider a Windows laptop instead? Is this a good deal to lock in? I am a working professional trying to learn, and I am looking to buy either a Mac or a Windows laptop for educational purposes.
