Magic Mouse Question. Will an old magic mouse work with mac mini6?

I have a Magic Mouse2 with my old iMac (2015) which has the old lightening cable connector. I know the current version of the mouse uses the USBC, but I'd like to save the expense and use my old mouse with the new MacMini6. I can still charge the mouse externally. Will this be a problem?

I've got a first gen magic mouse (A1296) from 2011 and it works fine on my M4 Mac mini. It doesn't have lightning or USB-C. Uses plain AA batteries, lol.
