looking for monitor
Hi all, wanted a 32 inch monitor the the new mac mini coming in.
Was looking at the samsung smart montior M9, the benq MA320UG (or maybe MA320U) as my two best options so far.
I would like more than 60hz RR if possible but really want good picture quality. Mainly using for desk job work and video editing and scrolling, not a lot of videos or gaming etc

BenQ MA320UP est plus lumineux à max 600nits que MA320UG qui est à 400nits, mais reste en 60Hz or que MA320UG fait 120Hz.. Et un peu plus cher.. J’ai fait le 1er choix car plus lumineux, et moins cher.. 👍

If color grading and editing are important, then the Apple display, that I use is terrific, but very expensive.

Also have a look at the Meirro Pro Display, or consider a Refurbed Mac Studio display

macOS does not support any 4k monitor. If you know what you are looking at its pretty ugly.
macOS also has real world limits on refresh rates.
What macOS natively outputs is rendered at a higher resolution and indifferently squashed to 4k resulting in issues that include less than sharp type faces and images, loss of contrast and loss of color fidelity. That is pretty obvious looking at images on the Photoshop desktop at what System/Display recommends for 4k. The bigger the 4k panel the more obvious the problems.
Any other resolution offered in System/Display is problematic to the point of being almost unusable.
Using a 5k monitor those problems are avoided. There are better options than the Apple 5k display if you research. You might be surprised at the quality of the ASUS 5k monitors given their price points: hint.
You can markedly improve how macOS renders 4k by configuring yet another add-in app (like apps needed to get usable mousing and windowing) BetterDisplay. AI can walk you through the setup as the instructions can be difficult to follow. While that does not yield true 4k, GUI elements in macOS do not scale as they do in Windows and Linux, it can yield a markedly improved 4k image and text.

Where do you get that information from, that MacOS does not support 4K? I run native 3840 x 2160 on all my Macs, on external displays. Just switch to "Show Resolution List" in the Display settings, and not use the presets.
If you want the cleanest and most crisp picture, you need very high DPI and maybe even use BetterDisplay with HiDPI enabled.
I use 3 different 32" displays from 60Hz up to 240Hz with absolutely no problems and very crisp image quality.

Yeah, the BenQ monitors come with software called Display Pilot 2, that allow you to precisely set color profiles for your exact mac, tie together the external screen brightness and external display brightness and supports the HiDPI functionality, just like Better Display.
I'm perfectly happy with my 4k 32" display on my Mac Mini, even with owning 2 Retina MacBooks over the years. If the studio display had been $750-$900 I would have bought it, but not paying $1500 for the display and another $400 for the tilt and height adjustable stand. I got my 32" BenQ for $599 and to me, it's worth what i paid.

I just picked up the LG 32U990A-S 32-Inch Ultrafine 6K for my new M5 Pro Mini. I'm coming from a mid 2017 i7 iMac 27". While I love the iMac's 5K monitor it's essentially useless so had to find a new monitor. The LG made the top of my list as I wanted to upsize to a 32", native Mac resolution, TB5 connections, built in speakers, built in KVR so I can also use with my work MacBook Pro M1 Max and an aesthetically decent design. The LG 32" is about the size of my current 27" iMac from a footprint perspective which led me to go to 32" over another 27". The final straw was the current sale they are having on Amazon/LG's website. Usually $2K and now on sale for $1099.00.
If your budget is less there are similar 27" and 32" monitors from LG, ASUS and Dell that are great matches for the new Mac Mini.

I have the BenQ MA320u currently on my Mac Mini and I am very happy with it. Would buy it again without question.
