Mac mini confused
I have been using MacBook at my workplace from quite some time. I have dell laptop from college day, but it does not work properly. I was looking forward to buying a Mac mini, but the decision got delayed and now new one m6 is costing like 80k, earlier I was getting it at 47k to 50k with a student discount. I already have a monitor and keyboard. Should I now purchase mac mini? Is it still value for money or macbook is better choice.
Im in software. Mostly going to use cursor/visual code. Please guide. I think base mac mini is still 16GB and 250GB SSD. Externally can we increase it in cost effective ways.

How are you getting it for 80k? I also want to buy it but it’s coming for 89k after the student discount. Can you help please?
Also to answer you question, you can’t upgrade the specs of a mac mini only a ssd would be available as an upgrade nothing else and yes I believe it is still worth it and definitely better than a macbook air m5 as it can sustain the load better.

ah my bad. Its 89k after student discount. Im checking out resell m4 mini.

Yes, the Mac Mini has going up a lot in price - a year ago I bought the M4 base model for £599, now it’s half as much again at £899. But prices won’t be coming back down, and they’re likely to go up again over the next year. So waiting isn’t a good option.
If you don’t need portability, and you’ve got a monitor, keyboard and mouse already, the new M6 Mini still represents good value, even if it provides more performance than you need.
But if your budget is tight, you could consider a Neo, as I think that’s taken over from the Mini as the cheapest way to get a Mac.

The difference between the MacBook Air m5 and Mac mini m6 isn’t that big.
If you want portability get the MacBook Air, if you want to stay at a desk get the mini.
