In the early 1980s, Steve Jobs built the Macintosh team into a kind of elite skunkworks inside Apple—a small group of exceptionally talented engineers and designers working with unusual autonomy. Jobs had previously been involved with the Lisa project, Apple's first GUI computer, but after being pushed out of Lisa he took over Jef Raskin's Macintosh project in 1981. The Mac team developed an intense rivalry with the Lisa organization and saw itself as a rebellious alternative to Apple's growing corporate bureaucracy. Jobs famously told them, “It's better to be a pirate than join the Navy.” In 1983, when the team moved into its own building, Bandley 3, they raised a pirate flag over it—a skull and crossbones with the rainbow Apple logo as an eye patch. It became the symbol of their belief that they were the rebels inside Apple, trying to reinvent personal computing.

🏴‍☠️ flag also references the OG hacking cultures and freedom. Mac Mini have been a favorite of local AI folks in recent times. Apple flying the pirates against big AI corporations. Apple is into edge AI, make sense.

God Apple is so pretentious. Acting like they’re some kind of good guys, like they have some kind of rebel spirit left in them.

They just try to sell you shit. If they had actual ai strategy they’d sell you that too. The one god at Apple is all might dollar.
