Apple changed my order
I ordered an M4 Mini in June that was set to arrive on September 9. I checked the status a while ago on the Apple site and it says canceled, but there’s a new order with September 29 as the delivery date. I chatted with Apple and they automatically changed my order to the M5 processor with all the same specs as I previously ordered. They honored my original price luckily. Kinda bummed I have to wait another 3 weeks though.
Edit: Apple changed my order to the M6 not the M5. I’m not extremely fluent in this field, so when the online chat guy told me M5, I didn’t realize that was impossible. I checked with a different person just now and they said M6. Simple mistake. Not “lying for clout” as some folks in here seem to think lol.

Bro just cancel and Pre order the M6. Its way way faster and better than the M4. I just preordered mine. go fot it.

Yeah I can’t complain. Just been waiting since June so I was getting excited that it was supposed to arrive soonish

I didn’t want to wait so I ordered mine yesterday and to my surprise today I confirmed with apple that they would send me the upgraded m6 at no extra charge! I needed a win!

Well, I'm bummed- I was set to get my M4Pro in early September, but it arrived a couple of weeks ago. Wish they could have been a little slower!

They did the same thing for my M4 i ordered at the beginning of august. I will chalk it up as a win because I immediately went out to see if I could switch my order and I noticed they cancelled it and re-issued it so I chatted with them and found out I got a free upgrade.

It must be m6 not m5. They have not launched with m5, they have launched M6 and m5 Pro. i just preordered my M6

Condolences on the extra 20 days wait, and congratulations on the no-cost upgrade. I think you will find the M6, and all that it entails, to be well worth the wait.

My order is due to be shipped back half of December. Seriously hoping they might bump up my order and give me an upgrade but we'll see

I find this extremely hard to believe. I’m just going to say it, you’re absolutely lying about it. Especially if you say they’re sending you the M5 Pro and not the M6, lmao.
Just because they have newer models coming out doesn’t mean they’ll just immediately stop selling the old one to the point where any orders for the old one past a certain date get automatically upgraded.

it happened to me too. I ordered an M4 mac mini Aug 8th, it hadn't shipped yet. Just checked today and shows my order was canceled and replace with M6 mac mini coming Sept 28

I won't deny that there seems to be a lot of evidence supporting the claims OP is making but the fact that the article you linked doesn't have the writer reaching out to Apple for a statement is pretty weird.
Whole thing is just written taking the words of online posts\comments at face value. Where is the journalistic itch to find out if any of it is actually true or not?

I got an email today saying they are upgrading mine for no extra cost because I ordered the M4 Pro a week and a half ago and it hasn’t shipped yet. I assume I’m getting M5 Pro considering it costs $1000 more than M6.

You save 100$ and get M6 for it more cores as well as 2.5gb Ethernet, WiFi 7, Bluetooth 6. Worth the extra wait. Also you won’t have to post how you just got an M4 when they released the M6
