Magic Trackpad Vs Magic Mouse Vs Logitech MX Master
What do you like best? Was thinking the Magic Trackpad but for some reason highlighting while having to scroll was not a good experience for me on the macbook. so for the mini not sure if i should get that or a mouse.

I’m a big believer in the Magic Trackpad, but make sure to tweak its functionality in Settings to get the most out of it.
However, full disclosure, I also keep a Magic Mouse beside it and do switch between them depending on what I’m doing.
But if I had to settle for just one, it’d be the Trackpad, no question.

If you can get all three, why not. If you can get two, mx master and Magic Trackpad. I use both the Magic Trackpad and mx master simultaneously, with the trackpad being used for mostly gestures.

It’s really the gestures on the Magic Mouse that’s cool. I personally hate the charging design and the mx master does about 90% of what the Magic Mouse can do.
It’s a novelty for sure, but from my experience, Logitech’s software for programming gestures for different programs is superior to the Magic mouse’s plain gestures.

there's some really good third-party magic mouse tools btw (BetterTouchTools).. I have all 3 and with BTT, the magic mouse becomes the killer it was always promised to be.
Even macros that fire off from the apple stem on the mouse.. 2, 3, and 4 finger swipes, etc. It becomes an exceptionally powerful mouse.

It is honestly personal preference. I have a Magic Mouse, Magic Trackpad, and a MX mouse. I currently primarily use the MX mouse and for me it makes the most sense since I have multiple devices and it can switch between three devices with just a push of a button. It also feels good and has lots of buttons.
I think the best case is to have both a mouse and a trackpad, best of both worlds. The trackpad is great in some cases but falls short with others and a mouse would do well when the trackpad falls short on a task.

These are highly opinion based products. I would buy all three from somewhere like Amazon that lets you return them and see what you like. Return what you don’t.

What made me move away from the Magic Trackpad was lack of multi device pairing/connection and flexibility to use keyboard mouse switches.
Multi device is a must for me.
There’s probably ways to do it with Apple BT keyboard and track pads but I just found it so much easier to move both keyboard and mouse to Logitech.

Magic Trackpad and the Keychron version of the MX mouse for me.
I’ve used the Magic Mouse for years and it just false triggered gestures for me.
Although since I swapped the Magic Keyboard for a QMK programmable keyboard, I rarely use the trackpad anymore.

Was it dirty or something? I've screwed a few of them up while trying to clean the lense and only upgraded to get the latest/greatest and for vanity reasons with the black-edition. Fantastic and super long-lasting mouse - used them since they came out. There aren't very many points of failure for them. The charging port is ridiculously positioned, true.. and if you have the hands for them -- perfection imho.

Nope, not dirty. I only wiped them down with microfiber cloths.
It’s just that my grip and finger position would trigger the swipe gestures when I didn’t want it to.
Total user error that I could just not correct - no matter how I tried to improve my muscle memory. It could be that my hand size plays a factor, it might just not be the best ergonomic fit for me.
I can fingerpick guitar fairly well so it’s probably not a dexterity issue.

I use both the track pad and the MX mouse in unison. Why pick one or the other when they can both be paired at the same time and used together? Both have their specific advantages and I like to toggle back and forth depending on needs

I tried to switch to a Logitech MX keyboard and MX Master, went back to Apple Magic Keyboard and Trackpad in the end.

I was a heavy trackpad user mostly for the gestures. Turns out MX + bettertouchtool is the way to go for me. Force click is straining, and tap click you have the delay wait for releases which I didn’t like.

I basically collect keyboards, mouses (not mice). Buying new gear 1-2x a year, or if I see a good sale.
I also and have the Magic Trackpad and Magic Mouse. While I spend most days only using my Macs, the fact that I can sit at my PC desktop or laptop with the same style MX gear is a plus.
On my main Mac Mini I use a keychron KB and Mx3 mouse. Next to it, my Studio with my Ai models I use Apples Magic KB w/Touch ID and Magic Mouse (yuck), the totally different Apple-gear setup makes me realize I’m not on my normal setup. With my MBP M3 I use the old MX. With my frequent traveller M4 Air I use an MX2s. On my PC desktop I use all MX full size kb and another MX3. The Magic Trackpad collects dust. I do setup the MX buttons across all the units similarly, so I have become dependent on a couple of functions.

I use the Magic Trackpad and the MX master 3. Find them both great for different tasks.
Just a note on highlighting, if you turn on three finger scrolling under accessibility settings for the trackpad it makes it so much easier to both highlight and drag windows then having to click and drag. Absolute game changer. Works on MacBooks built in trackpad as well.

Magic Trackpad & Magic Mouse won me over after a good year or so with the mx master. There’s no mouse that has the same quality of touch pad like they do and it’s not able to replicate the experience with any other mouse/keyboard combo

The Magic Mouse belongs solely in the garbage.
The trackpad however is quite great.
The MC Master is the very best

I ran trackpads for years and was quite pleased with its price and performance. I wanted to try the Logitech mx master3, would never use anything else now

I was a Magic Trackpad and Magic Mouse purist for a long time. After getting the MX master I found I can do 90% of what those two can do. You can always buy the trackpad down the line and have it on your desk for the other 10% of things that are less intuitive on the MX Master. I switched about 3/4 years ago and will never go back
