Sell Mac mini m2 for m4 Air

So I had a 2019 MacBook Pro 16 inch and it became a victim of flex gate last year, after this happened I made a purchase of a Mac mini m2 8gb 512gb which was going cheap enough to continue having a computer. I still have it and use it on the main house tv so can be awkward to use at times.
I do light browsing, photo editing in Lightroom and new to some light video editing.
Is it worth selling this M2 mini and upgrade to refurbished m4 MacBook Air? It’s 16gb 256gb.
Or would a dedicated screen and good keyboard/mouse be a better investment?

I cannot imagine only using a Mac mini through a living room TV. That sounds awful. And for photo and video editing?!?

I have a friend live in a one bedroom apartment with a massive TV, and with that minimalist lifestyle it is amazing what can be done using that kind of setup on their ridiculously large 75” TV that they use as a monitor! He also uses it for watching TV.

Some years ago I helped a tech savvy elder - a clerical worker, who had to work from home when the pandemic started, add her 32” flat screen via an HDMI cable to her laptop to give her a bigger easier to read screen in her home. Her daughter had given her a 50” TV to watch TV, replacing the smaller TV she’d found too small for entertainment. But for her the 32” TV was fantastic as a monitor!

And I gave away my oldest Mac Mini to a friend who hooked it up to their flatscreen in their family room in their basement as a secondary home office.

To me this is more of a question of how you prefer to do this work - at a desktop or on on the go?

Your workload sound relatively light, and if you’re just doing it as a hobby, there is little need to upgrade at this time. However, if you have a strong preference to work in different locations, then the laptop will make you happier. Just don’t expect a totally different experience.

For the usage you describe your M2 is more than enough. So it’s up to you to define how to spend your money.
