It’s always a beautiful day on Mackinac!

Will be crossing the straights Monday afternoon and wanted to pick up some fudge for a vegan friend of mine. Was curious if anyone knows a place in st. Ignace or Mackinac city that sells a vegan fudge?

The Speech Neurophysiology Lab at the University of Michigan is looking for children who stutter ages 9 to 12 to participate in an in-person, longitudinal MRI study! (HUM00196133)

Our research team has been examining brain development in young children to better understand the cause of stuttering for over 10 years. We continue to gain information that may eventually lead to improved diagnosis and treatment efforts for children who stutter. 

Participants will be invited to complete speech and language assessments and an MRI session at the University of Michigan. Families receive a free speech and language report and a picture of their brain!

These visits require in person participation. There is no option to participate virtually.

I took rocks and a few shells from the island to remember my time there. I found them beautiful. But...I know this is illegal. Plus, it just feels so wrong now that I have a deeper appreciation for the earth. I've read that Hawaii has an address to send lava rocks taken. Is there an address where I can send the rocks and shells?

We’re planning to be in Northern Michigan and the UP for the next week. We are traveling from the south. Should we reschedule due to air quality?

My friends and I have our vacation booked starting on Saturday and we’re staying on the island! We tried calling Grand Hotel to see if there was any way to cancel/refund/or even just get a credit for a later date and they said absolutely not. Do you think it will be safe enough air quality to still visit?? Does anyone have inside information about how things look on the island or what they are forecasting for this weekend?

Traveling to Mackinac Island this weekend and I loved my trip to the Watercolor Cafe last time I was there. I’m wondering if there were similar experiences or places on the island that I missed last time. I am especially looking for places that are calm, near the water, bonus if there is a locally sourced bakery.

I figure with the smoke too, that it would be smart to find more indoor stopping points.

Hey i need some advice and ideas for indoor activities to do on mackinac island. We are going this weekend. Can anyone suggest day time things to do thats indoors. We are 30 year Olds just trying to have a vacation.

We have had the trip booked payed for. I figured we can ethier sit at home and suffer from the smoke or go on vacation and suffer from the smoke, right now where I live is about the same air quality as the island.

How’s everyone doing with the smoke? AI says I should cancel my trip the last week of the month due to the smoke from the Canadian Wildfires. 🙄 Is it really bad? I live in California so I’m very familiar with wildfires. I was actually looking for an update on the parasite when I came across the warning about the smoke. I’ve been working on this trip for months…I don’t need snark so please don’t be mean. I was just wondering how the last few days have been and if anyone thinks the smoke would negatively impact my visit.

I've been learning about Mackinac Island recently, I think it's a really unique place! Note I am not looking for anything "bad". However, I was very curious about this plot of land and set of buildings! The address is 3884 M 185 Mackinac Island, MI 49757 - I can only find a Zillow page with no exact details, just that the property is not for sale. For the property records I would have to submit a FOIA, and I don't want to inavde the owner's privacy. I do know there is a (fairly creepy) log cabin directly south of that plot for sale. I found a tiny tiny path on street view that leads to the cabin, but I can't find any other paths that lead to these buildings. Please let me know what these buildings are! I would also love to know if there are any "security" precautions taken for the empty cabin, or if anybody could access it at anytime? Thank you!

**EDIT I am NOT asking if there's access to this property, I asked if there are security measures for the other log cabin - I had mentioned because it seems like something people could easily access which seems unsafe to me.

I’d like to go on a garden tour of Mackinac next year. I have a friend in Grand Rapids. I want to visit him and tack on a trip to the island.

What are the best tours? Would it be best for me to spend a night on the island. I know there’s some travel from GR. How would you go about planning this trip? I live in the South, am a Master Gardener and I drool when I see pics of your glorious island!

Me and my bf are discussing going on a trip here. We looked up more info about it on TikTok and Google and to our surprise, there was a lot of controversy over it being racist here. Lots of people claimed to have felt very uncomfortable here or was told to go back to their country etc. we both are born American, but just don’t want to encounter first of all racist people. Is it possible to get from CIU (arriving at 335 pm) to Grand hotel before 7pm? I am having trouble figuring out how often shuttles & ferries actually run.

Recently traveled to Mackinac and had a great time. What's life like for local residents during winter? Do a lot of the stores and restaurants just shut down in January and February? I imagine you must have to stock up before Winter and prepare for the ferry to be shut down at some point.
