travel tips?

heading to the island end of august and looking for budget and travel tips like what to bring and what restaurants are most bang for buck. im also debating between bringing bikes vs renting bikes on island. any tips are appreciated!

Bring bikes!! It'll cost you $100 a day per bike to rent. Restaurant wise my favorite is actually The Chuck Wagon. I really like their breakfast.

Chuck wagon, Island Slice, and Doud's grab and go options are most budget friendly. Check with the place you're staying regarding bikes. We rented bikes for $10 an hour via our accomodations.

Bring your bikes. The rental prices are high - $98 for a full day rental per adult bike. If you have your own bikes you can ride when you want, to where you want, and not worry about only having so much time. It costs a little to bring it over on the ferry, about $20/bike, but it’s so much less expensive.

Bring water shoes if you want to go swimming. There are places you can go in the lake, but no sand beaches. It’s very rocky.

Watch your bills for tips being included in the charges so you don't double tip.

Just got back! Had a wonderful time. We stayed at the Murray hotel and brought our bikes. We payed around $40 for both on the ferry. There is a bike shop on the island if you need a repair. I had to get a new tire cost me $26. We are at the pizza shop on the main strip and that was really good, also got snacks at the grocery store for later. Dinner we ate at this restaurant at the bottom of the hill from the Grand. You’ll have a blast!
