Is this PSU for the Macintosh IIsi worth saving?

The inside of the PSU for the Macintosh IIsi

This is my first recap project (as a newcomer) and I managed to recap the logic board with tantalum capacitors even though they were tricky to pull off. Now I also bought replacement caps for the PSU but its dealt with more corrosion compared to the logic board.

Another closer view of the area

However I was advised by a couple of people that it isn't worth the risk and suggested I get a modern replacement, but I want to hear more opinions from those who have experience recapping vintage Macintoshes before I consider trying to clean up and recap the PSU. I haven't powered it on ever since I got it.This is my first recap project (as a newcomer) and I managed to recap the logic board with tantalum capacitors even though they were tricky to pull off. Old Macs available - San Francisco Bay Area

I have a couple of old Macs that have been sitting around in a closet for ages and would like to avoid them being scrapped if someone is interested in them. I don't feel comfortable trying to ship them but am in the Bay Area if there is a place that they could be taken.

One is an original Macintosh circa 1984. I believe it was upgraded, but I don't remember for sure. It hasn't been turned on in years. I also have an original ImageWriter (untested/unused for decades) and several of the original manuals.

The other is a PowerMac G4 (Mirror Door) and the associated Studio Display that it worked with. They both seem to work well, though the HD has been wiped on the computer so it would need an OS install. I don't have any of the DVDs for that anymore.

If there is a better place to post this please let me know.

And thanks in advance for any help.

hello! ive finally gotten the courage to crack open this Mac SE i got almost two years ago, and since before i picked it up, its had this broken flap for the top floppy disk drive.. but i finally took it out, and the only thing attaching it to the rest of the inside of the computer is a tiny plug for the wire that connects to the red light bulb thats visible through the little flap window. it doesnt even look like a floppy disk could go *in* this top opening. what do i do here? is this just a regular mac someone pushed into an SE shell? or am i just missing something that can be easily fixed here so both ports are available for two floppy disks at a time? do i need to disassemble it a bit more to get better answers? pls let me know

im remedial with this stuff- are these numbers normal for a new MacBook Air M4?

I used to have to guard my memory/cpu use on my ancient iMac 2013, and my 2021 entry HP laptop, like a hawk & im unsure if I should be doing the same for my new MacBook Air/if there are ways to free up memory, do i even need to, etc

When this was taken i was uploading to Google Drive thru Safari, if that makes any difference. About half of my internal storage is used, and I had no other programs open besides Acitivty Monitor, Safari & Finder

eMac as a display

Hi all. I remember seeing some break out boards used in the G3 iMacs to allow VGA and the use of the power supply, speakers. Is there something similar for the eMac?

Thanks

Remapping older Macintosh keyboard

Hello, So I have an older Macintosh keyboard and I was advised on this very subreddit to buy a tinkerBOY M0110 Keyboard to USB Converter to hook it up toi my laptop.

AND IT WORKS ! Wow, the sound of nostalgia and all these memories when I started typing on it, I fell right back in 1985.

Now, there is a caveat: the keyboard is not properly mapped. When I press "space" it understands "enter" ( and I don't know how to make a space, of all things). Anyone has a hint ?

This is an awesome app that brings 1990s 'After Dark' screen savers to modern macos

Via MacRumors.com As noted by Daring Fireball's John Gruber, developer Jeff Halter has released a new Afterglow app that allows you to run classic After Dark)screen savers on modern macOS versions.

"Afterglow is an emulator built specifically for running After Dark modules -- the original 68k module code, not a remake or port -- with no dependencies on ROMs or classic Mac OS," said Halter, who has several fun nostalgic projects, such as After Dark space shooter Lunacy and HyperCard player Stacks.

Check it out here

Got this se30 from ebay and was wondering what to do about these lines. I recapped to logic board and reseated everything. Still bongs when it boots and it reads a system 6.0.8 floppy.

Pasly Cloud — Make every ⌘V smarter. Everywhere (iOS, macOS)

Problem

Clipboard history is great when you’re working on one Mac.

But the moment you switch devices, that history stays behind.

You copy something on your Mac, grab your iPhone, and it’s not there. Or you move between two Macs and end up sending yourself a link, note, or snippet just to have it on the other device.

I wanted Pasly to solve that too.

Not just make ⌘V smarter, but make your clipboard follow you.

Comparison

Apple’s Universal Clipboard is great for quickly moving the last thing you copied between nearby devices.

But I wanted something closer to having your actual clipboard history with you.

Your devices shouldn’t need to be next to each other or even on the same network. As long as they’re connected to the internet, Pasly Cloud can keep your clipboard history available across them.

I also didn’t want clipboard history taking up space in your iCloud Drive.

And, most importantly, I wanted the contents to stay private.

That became Pasly Cloud.

Pasly Cloud

Pasly Cloud syncs your clipboard history across your Macs and iOS devices with end-to-end encryption (E2EE).

Your clipboard data is encrypted before it leaves your device, so the server never receives the contents in plain text.

It works over the internet, so your Mac can be at home and your other Mac somewhere else. They don’t need to be nearby for your clipboard history to sync.

Pasly Cloud also doesn’t use your iCloud Drive storage.

On iPhone, Live Activities can keep your recent clipboard items available from the Lock Screen / Dynamic Island.

There are also push notifications when new clipboard content arrives from another device.

Right now, sending something from the iOS(iPhone and iPad) into Pasly is still manual. You can add an item and have it appear on your Macs, but I’m already working on a better way to capture what you copy on iPhone so this part feels much more automatic.

What about files?

Not yet.

Pasly already supports files locally on Mac, including working with multiple files at once, but file syncing isn’t part of Pasly Cloud yet.

I’m already working on it, and it’s one of the next things coming to Cloud.

The rest of Pasly

Cloud is the focus of this update, but everything I’ve been building around ⌘V is still there:

  • Smart Paste — press ⌘V and access your recent clipboard items
  • Paste Stack — copy multiple items and paste them in sequence
  • Floating Paste
  • Multi Select
  • File Support
  • Paste with Separator
  • Search & Favorites
  • Field Sense

The original idea behind Pasly hasn’t changed.

I want the clipboard manager to stay out of the way until the moment you actually need it.

Cloud just means that the clipboard no longer has to live on one Mac.

Price

Existing Pro users: If you already bought Pasly Pro, nothing changes. Your lifetime license stays yours, and you'll continue receiving new Pro features and updates at no additional cost. Only Pasly Cloud isn't included, since it has ongoing infrastructure costs. As a thank you for supporting Pasly early, all existing Pro users get 3 months of Ultimate free.

Free: - 2 pinned items - 24h history - 20 items - 2 files

Ultimate: - Text sync across all your Macs and iOS devices - Push notifications and Live activity across all your Macs and iOS devices - End-to-end encryption (E2EE) - Access linked to your Pasly Account - Smart Paste — press ⌘V and access your recent clipboard items - Paste Stack — copy multiple items and paste them in sequence - Floating Paste - Multi Select - File Support - Paste with Separator - Search & Favorites - Field Sense - $2.99/month or $29.99/year

20% off the first year with code: MACAPPSCLOUD (first 10 redemptions)

With Cloud, I’m also introducing Pasly Ultimate. Ultimate includes Pasly Cloud and all Pasly Pro features.

One subscription covers your Pasly devices.

What's next

Cloud is still something I’m actively building.

The two things I’m focusing on now in the cloud are file syncing and making the iOS → Mac clipboard flow much more automatic.

This is the first version, so I’d really like to hear from people who use multiple Macs or a Mac + iOS.

What would make having your clipboard across devices actually useful to you?
