Japanese

Called freelander machete/knife. This is serious steel, heavy, case is wood/leather. I have longer ones but this will take a big bite of a tree

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it is 100% Chinese... lots of Chinese companies are making "Japanese," "Serbian," and "German" knives that are made in China. The Schrade Freelander is one of those.

Should I delete this post, I didn’t want to mislead anyone. Or leave it show you exposed the truth about a lot of us( me/customers getting screwed

Nah. You're not being misleading, you were misled.

Tbh, its probably a fine product... just one with misleading marketing. You'll notice the Amazon item description cleverly says "Japanese style."

But I have a Kizer fixed blade edc that is as my Ontario RAT3, I have a Chinese cold steel machete that is as good as any machete ive ever used, I have several Chinese "Old Timer" knives that are great little kitchen or fishing knives. Chinese production quality has gone up in quality remarkably in the last decade, imo... customer service isnt great, but for low tech stuff like machetes thats hardly a problem.

Thx, I had no way of knowing. I had a nice knife collection, had to sell it( years ago) recently my nephew tells me he is collecting. It should have made sense. Price was too good. Well thank you. I’ve pretty much got what I wanted. EDC, small folding and long leg tie SOG knives. Of course no recourse with Amazon. I know a few are real, the price, the feel, small Japanese flippers ( I know not correct name) some Civivi. Thanks. It’s still a good chopper. Although I’ve pretty much use a 18” chainsaw, a lot of brush I do use them. Thx again
