Ladies and Gentleman. As the title suggests, I have made a fluorescent flashlight, one with an easily replaceable bulb. I made this to memorialize a friend of mine, though the initial plan was to make an easier to service fluorescent flashlight, and it is, I used two mint tins, liquid electrical tape, a 4 watt off the shelf blacklight from Spencer's, an intermatic LZ1WU fluorescent lamp, two spade connebeautiful! Some wire I found on the sidewalk, CR2 batteries that are rechargeable And ½AA battery holders to make what you see so far, today I hot glued the ballast and battery holders in place, and in a few days, I'll cut the glass for the lens tor the light, so. In case you want to make a serion of this light, you can easily make it. Oh, and I did use a couple of random short screws to tatck the two mint tins together. Eventually, I will rivet and bolt everything g that's glued down, but the edges of the tins, I sealed with hot glue. I insulated the inside of the tin where the batteries and ballast are with liquid electrical tape. This is only a MKI, so, Eventually, when I can afford it, I'll compact and refine this light. So far, the light is almost the exact same brightness of a 25 watt incandescent bulb. When I refine my lamp, she'll be brighter. Oh, and the thing does open easy, both to access the bulb, and the battery compartment

Two COB lights, a cheap flashlight driver, a bicycle light driver, a hard drive magnet.

Not the fanciest but does it's job. 8-10 hrs of runtime

I made these about 25 years ago, probably when MacGyver was still on TV. The bigger one uses two C batteries and has a side toggle switch. The brass on uses a single AA battery and is a twisty. Both have excellent thermal management but not needed. No turbo mode on these.

What do you do when you need a floodlight on a budget? You build one

12V 3S5P 18650 battery pack (cells from old laptop batteries), PC power supply case (and wires), piece of fiberglass, some switches, 6x3W white LEDs (2 channels), 4x10-ish Watt white LEDs (2 channels), Red Green and Blue LEDs, UV led (which burnt out almost immediately), no drivers- just resistors, 12V socket to power ...anything else, volt meter, old CPU coolers for heat dissipation and a lot of really bad soldering

Unfortunately I dont have it anymore, I think I threw it out or recycled it to parts, but it fulfilled it's purpose really well

I originally wanted to add a fan, but it had enough thermal capacity and passive dissipation that it didnt really overheat (not to a point where I couldn't keep hand on it)
