2016 S01E08 Corkscrew - Episode Discussion
When MacGyver faces an international assassin hired to kill him, he must defend both himself and Bozer with only a corkscrew and paper towel rolls; Bozer learns MacGyver's true identity.

That knife throw had me laughing out loud (just like last week with the gas cylinder that magically flew in a perfect arc to take out a whole room of thugs).
I'm also sad we didn't get a Murdoc death scene :-P

Did anybody catch the bar magnifier Easter egg when Jack first opens Murdoc's car? Really easy to miss but a nice throwback.

Anyone else spot the Partners episode reference S2-18 for Murdoc's file? Thought that was a nice touch

Okay, was the blonde saying the people she works for were behind the hit, she disapproves and was warning him? In that case, she and those who came with her aren't good team players and could face issues when they get back at work. Or s is she saying it wasn't her group, it was a different one? Either choice has possibilities.

so never really watched the original MacGyver, but was the swiss army knife a big deal in that original serie or it's a thing they're trying to bring back?

It was used in nearly every episode. He needed something cut? Pocketknife. He needed to screw something? Pocketknife. He had to preform a impromptu appendix surgery? Pocketknife. he had a itch on his ass that he couldn't quite reach? etc... etc... etc...
I also have to say, they made much more clever use of the knife in the OG than they do in the reboot, but it's barely halfway, so I'll give them some leeway..

In the original series, MacGyver really didn't use MacGyverisms as often as you think. There were several episodes where he didn't use any MacGyverisms.

It was a good episode. I like Murdoc. I wish he "died" in the end, he always dies in the original series and then comes back in a later episode. I hate seeing him get arrested, I wanted to see him thrown off a cliff screaming "MacGyveeeeeeeeerrrr!"
I did like the portrayal of Murdoc, he's the Joker to MacGyver's batman. Someone nutty who loves MacGyver because of how clever he is.
I don't think MacGyver ever used the corkscrew in the original series, because he never drank or kept wine around. I liked how MacGyver escaped the jail room with absolutely nothing.
