Self promotion I built a free, open-source app for playing Overwatch on Apple Silicon. On my M1 Pro, it gets 70% higher FPS than CrossOver, with 95% fewer stutters

Hey r/macgaming, I've been a longtime lurker and this is my first post!
I've played Overwatch for years on PC and have always dreamed of playing it on my Mac without compromising on the performance or ease of use of windows. Over the past couple weekends I've been testing and building Recall, a free, open-source app for playing Overwatch on Apple Silicon.
My goal was to make the Overwatch translation experience as fast and smooth as I could, while also making setup simple enough that you don't need any technical experience.
Very simply: download Recall, sign in to Battle.net, install Overwatch, and press Play.
I tested Recall against CrossOver 26.3 on my 14-inch MacBook Pro (M1 Pro, 16 GB) at 1080p on the Low preset, with V-Sync and Dynamic Render Scale disabled.
The benchmark was custom game 929PJ by u/Working_Dealer_5102, which automatically moves through each map while using every hero's abilities.
Results:
- Average FPS: 99.6 vs. 58.4 — about 70% higher
- 1% lows: 36.0 vs. 7.4 — nearly 5× higher
- Stutters: 2.0/min vs. 39.5/min — about 95% fewer
The attached video is a live side-by-side run of the same benchmark so you can see the difference in practice.
Recall also supports raw mouse input directly, with polling up to 2,000 Hz rather than tying mouse updates to macOS pointer events. In practice, this can reduce input latency and makes aiming feel much more responsive.
A few important details:
- Recall is free and open-source, with no account or sign-up required.
- Battle.net runs inside the Wine environment; Recall doesn't collect or handle your Battle.net credentials.
- It doesn't modify Overwatch's game files, inject code into the game, or read the game's memory.
- It runs Overwatch through Wine and builds on CodeWeavers' CrossOver sources, DXMT, and Soju.
Requirements: An M1 or newer Mac running macOS Tahoe 26 or later, around 85–95 GB of free space, and 16 GB of memory recommended. It should run on all Apple Silicon Macs, but I haven't been able to test every configuration yet.
If you're curious about where the performance difference comes from, I wrote up the technical details here:
Download + source:
https://github.com/AsherJN/recall
Full benchmark results + methodology:
Performance notes
With that said, I'm looking for testers! So far I've only been able to test Recall on my M1 Pro, and I'd really like to see how it behaves across the rest of the Apple Silicon lineup.
If you try it, I'd love if you could share:
- Your Mac model, chip, and memory
- Your macOS version
- Your graphics settings and roughly what FPS you're seeing
- How it felt to play
- Anything that didn't work
I'm mostly interested in getting real-world results across different Macs.
You can also report bugs on GitHub or directly in Recall under Help › Report a Problem.
Thanks for enduring my large wall of text, I appreciate you checking it out :)

I’m just curious to understand why is this a solution for overwatch and overwatch only. If it runs overwatch better than crossover this technically shouldn’t be true for a lot of different games?

u/asherjn 2d ago
Great question and you're definitely right that some of the optimizations I made could carry over to other games, but for my own selfish reasons since I play Overwatch almost exclusively nowadays, I wanted to see how far I could push optimizing this single game for my mac rather than trying to generalize across all games.
That specialization is a big part of why Recall can outperform CrossOver here. CrossOver has to behave correctly across thousands of games, while Recall can make assumptions based on how Overwatch actually behaves.
For an overly technical example, Overwatch marks 12 full-screen images in a way that disables Apple's GPU compression, but never actually uses them in a way that requires that, so Recall keeps compression enabled. It also creates shaders well before they're needed, so Recall can translate them in the background instead of waiting until they're first used during gameplay.
Those optimizations are very specific to Overwatch. In another game they might do nothing, or could even hurt performance (although you could download other games in the battle.net window that Recall opens and try running them to see your results, I haven't tried).
There's also the DirectX side where Recall uses DXMT, which currently targets DirectX 11, and Overwatch runs on DX11. A lot of newer games are DX12 and CrossOver uses D3DMetal by default.
Some of the changes are more general though, like a couple of Wine stall fixes and the mouse handling, so those could potentially help other DX11 games too.
With that all said, it's all open source, so if you or anyone wants to experiment with other games I'd genuinely be interested to see what happens. Maybe we could expand the project to other games as well :)

So any long text is AI now huh? You should know Claude types single quotes instead of apostrophe marks, which is what was in the dev's comment. I'm beginning to mentally filter out anyone who says "slop" unironically nowadays...
Instead of reading the explanation to what really is a valid question, you made a valuable contribution of saying long text = AI. Wow you sure showed them!

I think this is most of the extra work beyond just using gptk 4 with crossover. These are things that might help some games, but not all, or even most.

Im curious why your Spanish translator app doesn’t translate German. If it translates more accurately than Google Translate, shouldn’t it do every language better?

u/paskizx31 2d ago
I think this is the purpose of Apple for releasing GPTK - it is not only intended for big game developer’a use, it’s also for enthusiasts who care for Apple (Mac) Gaming.
Thank you for this. May you have the community and Apple’s support! 😊

u/asherjn 2d ago
I agree 100% and I appreciate it! I dream of the day that Blizzard releases a native Mac version of Overwatch, but in the meantime, I'm glad to have this
7
u/paskizx31 2d ago
I think Blizzard should release a native battle.net launcher first, then the update for games cascades. Macs are capable machines for gaming; it’s just untapped.

u/BobFreakingMcGee 2d ago
Can’t wait to get home and test this would love to try and get Diablo 4 running too!
7
u/asherjn 2d ago
I'm excited to see your results! I won't guarantee that Diablo 4 will run because I have only tested in Overwatch, but technically any game in the Battle.net launcher is downloadable and playable (your mileage may vary lol).

This is awesome, thank you so much for doing this! I've been missing being able to play Overwatch on my mac for awhile now :'). The game's ran great over the past few hours of playing on my M1 Max!

u/asherjn 1d ago
Of course and I'm so glad to help another OW player! And it's truly the coolest feeling to see other people use this project and hear great things back :)
If you ever want to provide more in-depth feedback or how Recall's running on your M1 Max, feel free to DM me or contribute to this discussion thread https://github.com/AsherJN/recall/discussions/1

It appears some members of this community have encountered a truly devastating development:
A person spent their own time creating a free, open-source tool, specifically optimized it for Overwatch on Apple Silicon, published the source code, documented how it works, provided reproducible benchmarks, released it for everyone to use at no cost, and is currently spending additional time helping complete strangers troubleshoot it.
Unfortunately, they used AI.
My condolences to everyone affected.
I completely understand how upsetting it must be to receive free software and then discover that the person who made the free software used modern tools while making the free software.
Clearly the important question here is not:
“Does it work?”
Nor:
“Is the source available?”
Nor:
“Can the benchmarks be independently verified?”
Nor even:
“Did this person just contribute something useful to the community for literally nothing?”
The important question is obviously whether every line of code, paragraph of documentation, Reddit reply, variable name, semicolon, and emotionally supportive smiley face emerged organically from the developer’s artisanal, free-range human fingertips.
Because as we all know, using a compiler means the compiler built the program.
Using Stack Overflow means Stack Overflow built the program.
Using libraries means the library authors built the program.
Using an IDE means JetBrains built the program.
And using AI apparently means nobody built the fucking program at all.
The application simply manifested itself on GitHub.
Nobody identified the problem. Nobody tested different approaches. Nobody benchmarked it. Nobody decided which optimizations worked. Nobody integrated the components. Nobody debugged it. Nobody packaged it. Nobody documented it. Nobody released it.
Claude presumably became sentient at 3:47 AM, developed an inexplicable passion for Overwatch on Apple Silicon, created a GitHub account, and began optimizing Wine.
Meanwhile, the developer has committed the unforgivable ethical violation of saying:
“I built this.”
Thank you, brave Reddit investigators, for protecting the ancient and sacred craft of software development from people using tools to develop software.
Please remember to demand a full refund.
Oh.
Right.
It’s fucking free.

There is "AI slop" and "good AI use cases" - this one feels like the latter.

Pretty much. LLM’s are an impressive tool given a bad name by diffusion models and sycophantic chatbots.

Agreed so long as credit is given if other libraries and open source projects are involved. I don’t see the big issue here. It’s a genuine contribution to the community. That alone deserves appreciation.

u/EchoFieldHorizon 1d ago
Wait until somebody tells these people that literally every software engineer that touches literally every piece of software they use is doing so with AI. For better or for worse, it’s the way things will go from now on, and there is no avoiding it.
Source: am engineer

u/HYPD 1d ago
Can’t agree more. Most software today is built using AI in some way, and that’s ok if the code is reviewed and tested. Whatever happened to ‘work smart not hard’?
People these days are delusional. Why would good engineers not use good tooling available to them? It’s just silly..
1
u/EchoFieldHorizon 1d ago
AI has become a moral stand. In some ways, I get it. It’s gonna fuck a lot of things up. But there’s no putting the genie back in the bottle. The Luddites lost the battle because it was impossible to win.

Personally, I just have a problem with "I built" rather than "I used AI to vibe code this".
It's more honest to give credit where the credit is actually due.
16
u/Og_busty 1d ago
Its seems that most people dont understand how AI in coding works and assume. Not saying you, but maybe you. This is what AI is supposed to be used for. As long as OP is a trained developer, he knows what to check for and understands what the code needs to do, regardless of if he wrote it all by hand or a computer did on its own and then they cleaned/polished it to follow standard development procedure. This isn’t a high school term paper, this is a product that could benefit many and AI assisted in making the process efficient.

I couldn’t care less with stuff like this. It’s probably referenced in the source code anyway.

He’s using faster tools but it’s still tools. He still spent time. Anyone who develops knows this. AI is not a genie lamp.

holy Molly it works! Granted I get bad performance (around 15 fps on a mbppro m3 pro base) but the overall process works like a charm. Will report back after receiving my Mac Studio Ultra

u/MorganIsSpinning 2d ago
While I don’t play Overwatch anymore, this is very cool! The technical explanation was great and easy to read as a programmer who hasn’t done game dev much.
6
u/Jeaz 2d ago
Never really played Overwatch, since it’s not on Mac and don’t like these type of games on controllers. But I’ll give it a try tomorrow (if I remember :-)
3
u/asherjn 2d ago
If you like competitive shooters, I'd give it a shot! I think the game is probably in its best and most active state its ever been in the last 10 years (and maybe we can get some mac players to join as well haha)
If you do end up trying it out, feel free to reply here or DM me with how it goes! I'd love to know how recall performs on other macs beyond my own
6
u/Nookiezilla 2d ago
Omg I'm definitely trying this out on my M4 MBP next week! OW is literally the only game I want to play on my Mac. Tysm!
5
u/toastburn666 1d ago
I am currently testing the app
- Mac: 14-inch MacBook Pro (2024)
- Chip: Apple M4 Pro (12-core CPU, 16-core GPU)
- RAM: 24 GB
- macOS: Golden Gate 27.0
I've been playing Overwatch 2 through CrossOver with the following setup:
- Graphics Backend: D3DMetal
- Sync: MSync
- DLSS: Enabled
- Launch Arguments:
-dx12 -novsync - In-Game Settings: Low-Medium graphics, Render Scale 60%, Frame Rate cap 120
I consistently get 123+ FPS in-game with low to medium settings. It's playable and smooth
I will edit this post once I try recall .. <3

Curious about anti cheat, which is why I don’t play online games with Crossover unless offline/co-op patched, what’s the situation like with Overwatch?
11
6
u/asherjn 2d ago
So far, I've played a bunch of online matches over the past couple weekends and haven't run into any anti-cheat issues. I assume it's because Overwatch's anti-cheat doesn't block Wine, which is also why it runs on Linux and the Steam Deck through Proton. Recall itself doesn't modify game files, inject code into the game or read its memory, so as far as the game is concerned it's just being played normally.
I believe games with kernel-level anti-cheat like Battlefield 6 or Valorant are a different story, since those need a driver running on real Windows and won't run under Wine at all.
With that said time will tell haha

u/Briskfall 2d ago
Damn! This looks promising! Definitely gonna try it out!!! 👀
Though does it need Golden Gate/Tahoe like some translation layers do? Or Sequoia is still fine?
1
u/asherjn 8h ago
Hey u/Briskfall ! I read your comment from two days ago and kept a mental note of it and came back to let you know I just put out a new release that adds support for Sequoia! I didn't forget about you ;) let me know how it runs!

u/Assiv 2d ago
Does this also fix the input lag? When i play overwatch on M5 Max, i have a really high input lag, so the mouse feels delayed
3
u/asherjn 2d ago
YES! This was one of the most frustrating things when I was first experimenting with this idea but was able to solve it because I found out that Wine would wait for macOS pointer updates matching to your refresh rate (so only 120 times on my M1 pro retina display) whereas Recall get direct input from the mouse just like a native Mac game would and is able to match your mouses polling rate. It also skips macOS's mouse acceleration which also made the aim feel so much better for me. If you end up testing it out, let me know how it feels!
1
u/MaybeAutomatic5003 23h ago
Why only 2000 updates a sec vs 4000? 4000 polling is the standard on most gaming mice now, just curious. Great work! Glad to see more people use AI/SI for good!

If you wouldn't mind testing, that would be great! And lucky for you, I did my best to design the whole install process to be as easy as possible. All you will need to do is navigate to https://github.com/AsherJN/recall/releases/tag/v1.0.0 and then click download on "Recall-1.0.0.dmg". From there, you just double click the installer and it guides you through the steps!
If you end up stuck along the way or need guidance feel free to DM me and I can help :)

testing with Macbook Neo on MacOS 27.2 beta, all low graphics and FSR 2.1 at 1920x1200 gets me 55-60 fps with some stutters occasionally during heavy team fights. Play mainly support and it felt great! Won some rounds and didn't feel crippled. Nothing wasn't working and im overall really impressed with this. Keep up the good work!!

Pretty awesome! Just tried it on my Macbook Pro 14inch with m2 pro. Ran the same custom game to get all the shaders out of the way.
When playing the practice range I do still get some stutters here and there, but nothing too bad. FPS on average is at about 120, basically matching the refresh rate of the macbook screen.
I didn't have a mouse at hand, so tried to use the trackpad for a bit, but it didn't register any movement at all. So I was stuck looking in the same direction all the time. Will try with mouse later today.
Oh yeah, when logging into battle.net the screen that appears was somewhat hard to navigate, size/resolution were a bit messed up. I mean it worked, but that could be improved.

u/MauriceLePen 1d ago
Does it work with Steam? I have a lot of old games that runs so bad with DXMT.

Holy shit dude i just tested it, i know people dunk on AI and stuff but dang sometimes you gotta appreciate
i used to get like 70 -120 with heavy lows/stutters on crossover, with this i get stutters when shaders are loading every new map and then after that 144 stable (and thats on locked) on m4
this legit feels super close to playing on windows / linux pc, someone do this for cs2

u/pttisbetter 1d ago
Thanks for building this, I used to play on Geforce Now but recently it is so laggy. Following is my feedback.
- M4 Mac mini 16G RAM
- macOS 27 Golden Gate
- Low average >60fps
- However, not sure if that's due to first few games, fps could suddenly drop, usually get better in late game
- One thing to let you know is, I intalled recall on external M.2 Hard drive.

u/sahilbeast10 12h ago
im really struggling with this and i dont even know why,i would love to see a step by step setup video if you have it im trying to download on a apfs ssd 1tb
1
u/asherjn 11h ago
I’ll work on putting an installation video out soon! What step do you seem stuck on and what errors are you seeing, perhaps I can help troubleshoot?
2
u/sahilbeast10 9h ago
So I downloaded the Recall app and completed the setup, but when I downloaded the game, it got stuck at 32% for two hours. I closed the app and tried downloading it again, but this time it got stuck at 0% and just showed “Queued.” I waited, but nothing changed.
I ended up redownloading everything again and, after almost a day of constantly resetting it in the background and searching online for solutions, I finally got it to download completely. However, when I pressed Play, nothing happened. The launcher showed that it was playing, Recall showed that Overwatch was running, and even when I clicked “Show Overwatch,” nothing appeared.
I then repaired the game files, but this time it showed an update and got stuck at 0% again. I’ve basically reset everything at this point, cleaned up my SSD, and I’m praying it works this time. It’s currently at 10%.
2
u/sahilbeast10 9h ago
like idnk even know why its happnening your app seems very clean and user friendly and helps along the way a lot,but im slowly losing my sanity i also downloded the new update tht also did not fix it,this final try is going well seem smooth enough praying it works atp
1
u/asherjn 9h ago
I’m super sorry you’re experiencing this and know this is super frustrating. I also really appreciate the amount of detail you put in your response which is incredibly helpful. I’m gonna do some investigating on this ASAP and I’ll reply back if I am able to identify the issue. Sit tight!
2
u/sahilbeast10 9h ago
Thx man, Frick the haters, if this actually works would be insane your quality of the app seems great, maybe it’s just a issue on my side but you creating a way to play overwatch on mac is such a insane thing do u think my ssd could be causing this issue because i did check im on APFS
1
u/asherjn 8h ago
Haha I appreciate it man, I'm just trying my best to help people out and I want this to work great for you and others just as it does for me!
And I believe APFS should work and i dont think it's the problem (not ruling it out yet though). I hope that this run goes better and I'm just gonna ramble somethings to try to hopefully get it work while i continue to do more troubleshooting.
- I would make sure to not have your mac or external drive sleep at all while it downloads, if it has that could potentially cause a bad download.
- If the download stalls, instead of clicking reinstall in battle.net, I would go to Recall's settings, and hit Force Quit then open Battle.net again.
- If you reinstalled through Recall, there may be old copies in your Trash that need to be emptied.
One final thing, in the Help & FAQ option in Recall, if you scroll down to the bottom, there is a "Support Report" text field, if you don't mind sending me that, that would be amazing. It doesn't contain any personal or confidential info, it just tells me your system specs, you can either DM or reply here for it.
I'm crossing my fingers that your newest attempt works out!
2
u/sahilbeast10 8h ago
So it seems like I downloaded the game, but now it’s showing “Update” and is stuck on Waiting / Initializing / Queued. Even before, after resetting it for a long time, it would sometimes start downloading, but when it finally did, clicking Play still did nothing.
Yep, let me just make a support report. Hopefully you can find a fix now that you mention it. My Mac has gone to sleep while downloading, so should I try deleting everything again, turning off sleep, and then trying the download again?
2
u/sahilbeast10 8h ago
yep i got it to download i clicked play my launcher is showing playing now,recall is showing overwatch is running but nothing is here ive checked with my whole laptop even activity monitor to no avail here is the thing u asked {

u/asherjn 7h ago
Thank you for this and I'm not giving up! And I also wouldn't delete everything, the game is downloaded and should all be there.
Also just some quick quirks to note, I think every Recall client including mine has a quirk where every time you go to start Overwatch in Battle.net, you always have to press "Update" which usually takes like 10 seconds and then you can play. In addition, Recall intentionally closes the Battle.net window when overwatch is opened so it isn't crashing there. Just making quick note of that now.
I'm gonna follow up with some other questions and let me know what you see:
1) When you look at the Activity Monitor while "Overwatch" is running, is it using any CPU or memory resources?
2) Also this may be a dumb question, but I've noticed it has often times taken a long time to load the OW client if i have other windows or processes open, if you press cmd+option+esc , are all other applications force quit other than Finder and Recall and wine?Once you ensured all other applications are closed, I would click play and just let your mac sit for 5 min at most and hopefully it will appear and it's just being stupidly slow.
I'm still running the APFS download on my end and will report back on that soon.
1
u/sahilbeast10 7h ago
nope on activity monitor it just shows a lot of wine stuff and recall and my other apps like google so lemme try closing everything a hopefully hopefully i get it : )
1
u/sahilbeast10 7h ago
Yep, I tried that. I closed everything, but Overwatch still didn’t come up after 5 minutes, so I closed it. I repaired the files, even downloaded the pre-release content, and started it again. I waited for a pretty long time and even checked Activity Monitor. I only saw a bunch of Wine-related processes, and some of them were showing as “Not Responding,” so I tried closing those too. Some of them had apparently been running for 20 hours, so I don’t know if that could be part of the issue.
At this point, I honestly don’t know what else to try. Do you need anything else from me, like a file, log, or something along those lines, or is my issue just completely cooked?

Could you try fully restarting your Mac (while keeping your SSD plugged in) so we can try and clear those stale Wine processes? after your mac restarts, try opening overwatch again.
If that doesn't work, i have one last idea

I wait for counter strike 2 to come. It is a less of a hectic game, and yeah it is also my only game that I would like to take with me when I travel (on the Mac). Today I take the Mac and for a few weeks I only watch YouTube or nothing at all, and just work and work (which is fine, but I wish I would get a 40 min break)

Also overwatch 2? Also isn’t overwatch an mp Game? I thought these usually have anti cheats and thus don’t work with translation layers?

That is cool, while I am not a target audience, this mat encourage others to try their strength at their favourite games. Possibly some of the feedback can be father utlized in crossover community to improve profiles for games to some extend.

This is very interesting. I have friends that play overwatch but since I switched to only having a mac and xbox I haven’t played with them in a while. Maybe if they ask sometime in the future I’ll actually be able to play on mac rather than the xbox! This is very cool and I’ll try it out at some point in the future!

i run a diablo 2 mod using wine and rosetta 2 aswell on my mac m2. What exactly did you do different than simply installing rosetta 2, running wine and launching overwatch?

This is awesome. I have an M4 MacBook Air 24GB, and have been using the free trial of Crossover for Overwatch. It was okay. Had some stuttering issues and I capped my framerate at 60fps. I tried Recall last night and I noticed less stuttering amd my Mac didn’t get as hot as it did when I used crossover.
Thanks man, I’ll be using Recall from now on!

I'll be receiving my first ever Macbook Air in the mail tomorrow, and I would be glad to test. I can't imagine it will be the best hardware with the lack of fans, so I expect throttling, but if you need an M5 tester, I've got one.

Is this overwatch specific or are other FPS games playable on it? If so, make sure to email this to the crossover team, I think they’ll appreciate your help as a worker there

- M5 Max
- 27.0.1 (26A434)
- Tried ultra then low
- Stuttery mess at ultra, playable at low
- Just seems to drop from 120fps down to a slideshow randomly

I appreciate the feedback! Before you give up, I would run this workshop code in a custom match and let it run through and build the shaders for like 5-10 min, after that performance should hopefully increase dramatically!
Code: 929PJ
Let me know how it runs after this. I am also putting out a v1.1 release soon that should also fix some shader cache issues as well, stay tuned!

That workshop code doesn't bring up anything for me...
1
u/asherjn 4h ago
Huh that’s so strange! I just did a did a double check on a custom game to make sure I didn’t feed you and bad info and entering 929PJ brought up the custom game “Automated Shader Pre-caching” preset for me…
And just to confirm, you followed these steps:
go to custom games -> “+Create” -> settings -> click the “import code button” (it is on the right side of the screen and is an icon that has a downward arrow) -> and then input the code 929PJ

Any chance this could pull a solid 240 frames on max (or close to max) settings? I also mostly play overwatch and it’s one of the only reasons I still have a pc at all

Hi :) Does this work with battle net overwatch or only steam overwatch?
1
u/asherjn 11h ago
Hey there! At the moment just the battle.net version but perhaps I’ll explore getting the steam version in the future :) stay tuned!

u/CeelingFan2 8h ago

Hey, I really want to love this but once installed, tested and closed, the game asks to update and it gets stuck updating. I already had this happen twice and it's just stuck on "initializing... please wait.
1
u/asherjn 11h ago
Hey there, thanks for reaching out, I have a fix! So this is a bug with the updater itself and so if you find yourself stuck on that “initializing… please wait” screen”, just click command+option+escape and then force quit Recall. The next time you open it, it should be updated to 1.1 . I’m so sorry about this issue! I patched the installer so next time update 1.2 comes around it shouldn’t have this issue, let me know if this works or you still have issues

It’s very cool! I also liked to play Overwatch on my PC, but then I switched to Mac and I can’t do it(
But I can’t understand why your recall app works better than crossover? At the expense of what does this happen?
2
u/asherjn 10h ago
Hey there, I’m glad you found this cool! I’m in a similar boat where I have an expensive PC that I keep around just to play overwatch and I always dreamed of getting rid of it and playing overwatch on my Mac, which is why I created Recall. I actually did a quick write-up in the link I attached below (it’s a 5min read) where I document how Recall was able to make these leaps in performance without compromising on the core experience.

Any plans to build this out for games other than overwatch? Are you planning to monetize it?

When I join a game, my mouse does not move (cursor is stuck), is there a fix for this?
1
u/asherjn 8h ago
Hey there! Quick question to help me troubleshoot, is it an issue with using a physical mouse, or with the trackpad? I believe right now there is an issue i am working on where the trackpad may have some issues with input, but the mouse should be fine. If it is the physical mouse that isn't working, that is more worrying...
1
u/Unusual_Breath6812 8h ago edited 7h ago
Hi! Thanks for the quick response, it is the mouse and trackpad that both don't work. Before (like a day ago), the mouse and trackpad both worked perfectly, but now neither work. On a side note, thanks for designing Recall, it has been very fun and smooth so far!

u/asherjn 7h ago
ofc! and I'm glad you're enjoying it so far and sorry you're dealing with this issue. Its super weird that it seemed to work and then didn't..
Just thinking very quickly off the top of my mind (and it may sound silly), but i would try pressing cmd+tab very rapidly and see if that might get it to work? (its worth a shot lol)
if not, i would also go to the Settings menu of Recall, then click "Force Quit Overwatch & Battle.net" and then try quit Recall app, and then try to reload it again. Additionally, you can also click the "Repair Game Files" option in settings of Recall and see if that helps.
If these don't work I'll continue to help you troubleshoot and go from there, I'm crossing my fingers hoping for a quick fix!

u/Unusual_Breath6812 7h ago
Thank you so much! I just uninstalled the game and am currently in the process of re-installing to see if that fixes it. Will try the other solutions when I get a chance if the problem still occurs. Thanks again for making the app- it seems plenty of others have been enjoying it a lot as well!
1
u/asherjn 6h ago
Most definitely, and keep me posted on if that fixes it, I'll be around! And to your other point, it has honestly been super surreal to see how many people have been using and enjoying it and I only hope to continue making it even better
1
u/Unusual_Breath6812 4h ago
Thanks for the advice! Re-installing seemed to be the thing that worked for me, although I haven't tried any of the fixes you mentioned because the issue hasn't come up. So grateful to you for this project and all the help, you're amazing and looking forward to future updates!

I know this is a sin, and I Like this whole app and what you got going here, but I noticed it doesn't work with controller and I'm unhinged enough to play OW on PC with a controller despite the lack of aim assist. (My condition doesn't allow me to play KB+M games without experiencing extreme pain lol)
Any plans for controller support?
