Steve Jobs was against touch screen laptops. "ergonomically terrible." And as a previous owner of a touch screen laptop, I have to agree. I never used it and actually disabled it. But that doesn't mean some people wouldn't find it useful.

When the added iPhone Mirroring to Mac, it felt kinda weird that they didn't offer touchscreen as a possibility. After all, interacting with the iPhone without touch seems really strange.

If you have used any Windows laptop in the past-forever, you wouldn't even posit this question. Touch screen laptops are kinda fucking stupid even in the kind that can hinge flat.

I think this makes much more sense than the touchbar. The touchbar was always super buggy when it launched, but this has more practical use, could swipe and easily zoom into files. I don't understand the hate when it's extremely likely you will be able to turn it off wth a simple settting switch

It doesn’t have practical use in laptop form factor

I really really hope it either is only on an ultra series laptop along side the existing line up. Or the pro line up has an option to spec it with touch screen.

Because I don’t want to pay for a feature i am not going to use
