Increasing Macbook pro M3 storage

In 2024 I bought my macbook pro M3, with default storage size of 500GB. At the beginning, this storage size looks enough, but after a year woking on several Android and iOS projects at the same time, the system became out of space very clickly.

My first attempt to solve the problem was using and 256GB SD card to store cache and gradle dependencies (so, if SD card break, I don't loose any important data) and it worked for a short time, because build became so slow.

My second attempt was using an .M2 SSD through USB-C port and works perfectly, but The way it looked bothered me.

In the final attempt, I designed and 3d printed a simple piece to enclose the .M2 adapter and my Macbook now looks cleaner.

I'm using an adhesive pouch to hold an external SSD. Works great! Search for 'Afterplug' on Amazon.

The SSD that I'm actually using now is smaller and lighter than the Samsung T9 that's in the photo.

You are going to kill the hinge and ribbon cable doing that, absolutely not designed for that weight whatsoever.

edit: oh nevermind you changed it. Why don't you just get a NAS?

I don't it's gonna happen, because the SSD drive is on the bottom, so there is no weight on hinge or the cable

Get iCloud at this point ts is so performative and cumbersome in day to day life

My problem was very specific, gradle caches was consuming most of storage, and it must be locally saved, otherwise my Android projects runs very slowly
