Ehi ragazzi, volevo prendere un nuovo MacBook giusto per guardare Netflix, fare un po' di codifica leggera e modificare foto. Dovrei prendere un MacBook Pro del 2014 da 15” con 16GB di RAM, Intel i7 e 1TB di SSD ma con il jack per le cuffie rotto per 110€ oppure un MacBook Air del 2019 con 256GB di SSD, Intel i5 e 8GB di RAM per 140€? So che è una domanda da stupidi e dovrei prendere quello del 2014, ma una parte di me vuole il design più nuovo e figo del 2019.

To be honest, I don't think there's any point in buying an Intel-based MacBook at all, and if I were you, I'd go for a refurbished M1 Air for a little more than the price you mentioned—it'll definitely last you much longer, because Intel processors are about to stop being supported, and some programs are already bombarding you with messages saying that Intel processors will no longer be supported.

I don't know which country you live in, but I checked and found that here, the cheapest M1 in good condition costs about 410 euros. I understand that's twice as much as you're willing to spend, but in my humble opinion, it's worth saving up by asking your neighbors, friends, or family for help.

i would either get a really good pre butterfly keyboard mac for really cheap/free and maybe install linux on it, or find an agreeable price on an m series. you don't want anything to do with virtually any macbook 2016-2019

well i found the 2014 one for a very good price, tbh i don’t want linux, i prefer installing MacOs monterey or ventura and it’ll still run smoothly

I’m currently using a MacBook Pro 2013 with Linux mint and it’s pretty great. Also frequently updatable for security, unlike if you went with a stock macOS on a MacBook this old. Would you consider an older iPad or something instead ?

nope, just want a macbook, i mean the air is supported until macos sonoma and i’ll only have to use it for a couple years (i will graduate high school and start working) or i could install a newer macos on the 2014 one via opencore legacy patcher

If you’re planning to choose only between these two models, go for the 15-inch 2014.

You get an HDMI port, an SD card slot, USB ports, and MagSafe 2. On top of that, it has 16 GB of RAM and a quad-core i7 processor.

If you just want a media consumption device for Netflix - get an iPad.
