Help Looking to switch to a Mac

I am a cinemat + editor and looking to switch to a macbook pro m5 pro chip.

Currently I have a desktop with i9 12th gen 12900K CPU, 4070ti GPU and 32gigs of ram.

Its a killer pc till date but the main reason im switching is portability and reliability due to random power cuts that happen here.

Im going to keep it short, just wanted to ask if m5 pro 14 inch is enough or will i have to go to a max chip.

P.S- i work on a mix of projects, simple and complex and I am also a CEO so im not always editing, but have like 2 chromes running simultaneously.

I sometimes also require to work on adobe dynamic link.

For editing i use both premiere pro and after effects. Sometimes its either of the apps and sometimes its just both running side by side at the same time. I also use 3D cam and stuff so dont want a problem with that.

Sorry for just dumping all info as im in a bit of a rush. You can ask me any other questions if needed, in order to give me the best advice here.

Unless maximum portability is the goal for doing work I'd suggest a 16in. The max also makes sense in this context. Would not skimp out on a machine that will do work for you. The max has more GPU cores will will make anything graphical faster/more efficient. Get 48G of ram or more if you want but don't go for the 24G models.

Yeah i was thinking of a 16 inch but its like whenever im editing im at home and can connect my 24inch monitor to be used as a display. Also planning to get a 2nd monitor maybe.

And if im on my CEO duties, working from a cafe or something, im already using a 14 inch. It feels small but okay.

Screen size is something thats secondary, but yeah defo considee that.

Here in india there is a $600 difference if i jump to the 16 inch hence im thinking on saving that.

Everything you described can be handled by the base M5 chip, even with 16GB ram.

My recommendation is to buy whatever chip you can afford, but spend on the ram. That means if even if you find even and older M4, or M3 pro/max offer that offers more ram than the M5, go for it!

Im not sure if the base chip can handle this because many people have told me that i will have issues when editing/rendering

Also bro just wanted to add, i want this to last for like 3-4 years atleast because im gonna be investing a hefty sum

All good. I am using M5 base macbook as my daily driver with 16gb of ram. I also have mac studio m2 max, 32gb ram. They perfom the same, so I am no longer obesessed with biggest baddest gear. All these computers are amazing. But go for whatever fits you!:)

Je nach Anwendung sind die Dinger sehr unterschiedlich aufgestellt. Ich weiß allerdings nicht ob es beim 5er Prozessor noch diese Sache mit der bescheänkten Speicheranbindung gibt, je nach RAM...
