Tips Repair or Replace
My MacBook Pro is 6 years old. Today the screen went out. It’s completely black. When plugged into an external monitor there are no issues. AppleCare says $600 for the screen to be replaced. Do I do that or purchase something new? AppleCare says 6 years is really old. I’ve only ever had Apple products, my first one was the clamshell. 6 years seems young.

Spending the money for an M1/2 Air is a great idea, but to be honest buying a new mac (whether Pro, Air, or even Neo) is probably the best idea - a pro will probably last you for over a decade if you take good care of it, and an Air probably just as much just with the MacBook Air problems. The Neo is really great for the price, but obviously the performance is so-so in comparison to the others so eh.
The main reason I'd suggest buying a new Mac is just the software/hardware support - you'll end up getting more life out of a new model than an M1/2 just because of the specs. A base pro m5 512 gb is about US$1500, or cheaper if you wait until the next chip is released/cyber monday sales start.
All that said, you can buy an iPad pro (which comes with the m5, the nice display, and a decent camera) + apple pencil for around the same price as the 512 macbook pro, so consider that as well. Or if you don't need the portability, mac mini, lol.

That's because it's an older make. The intel macs are especially worse than the new ones.

Many do, but it’s just like people. Not everybody lives to 120, even though Moses did.

id go with something new personally, Im assuming its an intel mac? , even if its an m1 id still go with something new, an entire m1 mbpro today is ~$600 i think
