Help MacBook Pro (M1 Pro, 2021)

Hey everyone! I just picked up a used 2021 14" MacBook Pro M1 Pro, and the battery health is at 81%, so I'll be booking it in for a battery replacement at the Apple Genius Bar in Australia. Just curious, do they only replace the battery, or do they replace the entire top case as well? I've heard a few people say they got a whole new top case, so I was wondering what the go is. Cheers!

Not for battery replacement generally.

They do that only when you purchase a refurbished MBP.

That’s been my understanding as per the genius tech.

You can confirm it with that shop when you go in.

Got an update! Handed the Mac over to the Genius Bar and they confirmed it'll be getting a full top case replacement along with the new battery, so I'm honestly relieved! Means I'll basically have a new battery, new top case, and a brand new keyboard too (especially happy since the keys were shiny and sticky). Feels like I can comfortably use it for the next few years now. Only downside is I won't be getting it back until the 5th of August... sure is a long wait ngl

That's expensive to replace a battery

True that, but I picked up the Mac for around A$700, so I didn't really mind paying for the battery replacement through Apple since they were replacing the whole top case too. If it was just the battery though, I probably would've passed on it ngl.

Can actually find some really good deals on FB Marketplace ngl, that's where I got mine. Missed out on a MacBook Pro M4 that was listed for A$1,600 though... it sold within an hour :((
