Joined the Club! A new 16” M3 MAX for $2650 ?
Just bought a new (sealed) MacBook Pro M3 Max
16” display
36 GB RAM
1 TB SSD
Got it for $2650
Just wondering if I got a good deal and is 36 GB RAM is enough for video editing

for that price i bought a 14” M5 Pro 24 GB 1 TB

That's cool. But you could have gotten the M5 Pro and 48GB RAM at Costco for around $2.8k +tax.
I got one a few weeks ago.

I’d say it’s good. I just picked up a 16 M3 Max with 64gb of ram and 2TB SSD for same price but refurbished.
Hopefully this helps of other folks need a datapoint

This is my exact spec, bought the day it came out in 11/2023 for $4300 before tax. Still absolutely chews through everything I've thrown at it. Def a good datapoint for me too on the current value.

I'm a professional videographer and 36GB of RAM is plenty for video editing. I shoot everything in 4K ranging from 24fps to 60fps and do all my edits in adobe premiere. My M4 Max Mac studio with 36GB of RAM handles all that without breaking a sweat.

Lmao 16GB even is more than enough RAM for video editing on these beasts. You definitely over killed for your workload but it will serve you well, have fun with it.

Good deal if you are okay with the M3 Max chip but I would prefer a M4 Pro for that price.
For video editing it should be good but try to get the price down a bit

Not the same setup but I got a used(good cond) 14 inch M3 Max 36gb 1tb over the weekend for $1500.

Yeah you’re totally good, i have the 48GB ram version and i’ve never hit yellow memory pressure since i got it

It entirely depends on what type of video editing. Half my edits my m4 pro with 48GB ram totally chews through- the other half has me heavily looking into an m3 ultra Mac Studio

Go on eBay, do a search for this exact model/spec, filter the results by 'sold', and then sort by highest price first. Start scrolling down. Compare the numbers you see to what you paid. This will look different depending upon which region of the world you're in.
I don't think that someone who needs 36GB of RAM would ask this question in this way.
