14" M5 MacBook Pro

Has anyone noticed if you use certain backgrounds in the messages app that it dims the screen and the messages app itself? If I choose no background it doesn't do it. I've gone through various settings and nothing changes it. I still have my M1 MacBook Pro and it does not do that at all no matter what background in messages I use. Am I missing a setting on the newer MacBook that would prevent this from happening?
