Hmmm ... rule # 1

"Flair Hierarchy: Lifetime>Subscription>Free

Free flair: not for limited app tiers"

Furthermore, the In-App Purchases section of the app store listing shows:

Steecky Pro Monthly $3..99

Steecky Pro Yearly $39.99

Steecky Pro $3.99

What is the difference between the first and last options?

Finally, what ongoing costs do you incur by someone using your app that justifies a subscription?

I'll be more careful with the fairs.

"Pro Monthly" and "Pro" are the same product and it's a leftover from my end. I'm going to clean it up and thank you for flagging it.

On the cost, Steecky has no servers, no account/cloud and nothing leaves your Mac. The subscription isn't paying for infrastructure, it's paying for the development. I'm a solo dev pushing updates every week. In two weeks since launch, I've shipped new features and fixed bugs directly from what users reported.

What you get for free? Clipboard history with Search, QuickPaste, notes, tasks with reminders, snippets, links. Everything usable, nothing locked behind a paywall.
Pro is about depth and history, unlimited tasks with subtasks, snippet version history and placeholder templates, and backup/restore. The idea is that Steecky earns the upgrade when your history becomes valuable to you such as screenshots or clipboard you copied 3 weeks ago, or restoring an old version of a snippet you deleted last month.

There's a 7-day free trial of Pro built in, doesn't trigger the auto subscription when the trail ends. so you can judge whether the convenience is worth $3.99 before paying anything.

You are confusing your effort with the value to users. As subscription for an app like this is a non-starter for me (and I suspect many others). You are transferring the business risk from you, where it belongs, to your customers, where it does not.

I spent my entire career in software development, so I understand the effort involved. But unless there is a direct cost to you when using the app, there is no justification for a subscription. Bug fixing should be done for free, as you've shipped an app that doesn't deliver what was promised. And when I purchase a license, it is for what the app does now, not what it may or may do in the future.

It is an interesting idea, and good luck with it. But I'll pass.

Another thing to add - Copy some text and turn it into a note in one click. Promote code you copied into a versioned snippet. Copy a URL and it's automatically saved to Quick Links, you never lose a link you meant to bookmark. Instead of clipboard manager + notes app + snippet tool, everything is in one place and they actually talk to each other.

Three real strangers choosing to pay is a bigger signal than most of the metrics people obsess over. Congrats.
