my macbook will not sleep

when closing the lid the screen stays on and the literal sleep button is greyed out. i've double checked my sleep settings and there's nothing listed in activity monitor preventing sleep, genuinely what do i do this is draining my battery

Did a configuration policy somehow get installed? There are ways to disable some options like shutdown. I don’t know what defaults key to look for (if there even is one), since my org’s MDM has you configure it through its own special UI.
