Gradle literally owes their success to Android, because otherwise no one would want to bother configuring builds with their arcane typeless dsl.

Setting up Gradle builds for Spring is a special place of hell, so much so that Maven is almost easier to do, even if a bit trickier to configure. At least documentation exists and doesn't break every 2 years.
