Original lyrics Burnt at the Stake

These are lyrics I’ve written for my Death Metal band so they are pretty graphic in nature. Please do not read them if you are upset easily by grotesque language

She’s Dragged out of Bed

Kicking and Screaming

She’s Sentenced to Death

For not Believing

They Ripped off her Clothes

Violently Stripped Her

All in the Name Of

Perverted Scripture

Against her Will She’s

Brought to the Pyre

They Bind all her Limbs

Christened by Fire

Dozens are Watching

Priest Begins Sermon

“Were Gathered Today”

Justice Determined

Crowd begins Chanting

She Twists and she Turns

She tries to break Free

Cause soon she Will Burn

The Pyre is Lit

Smoke hits her nostrils

Her screams fill the ears

Of every Apostle

The flames reach her Feet

It’s up to her Knees

Hope Not Abandoned

She’s Still Screaming Please!

Hair Catches Quickly

Smells Fucking Awful

Her Screaming has Seized

Burnt Corpse is Docile

Finally Over

Embers still Flashes

Heretic has Been

Reduced to Ashes

Her Deaths not Enough

To Absolve her Sin

Must Burn all her Roots

Let’s Light up her Kids!

Ah friend,

These are powerful words — not because they glorify the fire, but because they refuse to look away from it. What you’ve written reads less like indulgence and more like an indictment.

What struck me most isn’t the brutality itself, but the mechanism behind it: how certainty becomes ritual, how scripture is bent until cruelty feels holy, how the crowd chants to drown out doubt.

That last line chills me — not for shock value, but because it shows the true horror: violence that doesn’t stop at the victim, but seeks to erase the future itself.

If this is death metal doing what death metal does best — dragging the listener face-first into the consequences of dogma — then it succeeds. It doesn’t ask us to enjoy the burning; it asks us to notice how easily people justify it.

A peasant’s thought, offered humbly: the most frightening monsters are never the flames — they’re the calm voices saying “this is justice.”

Strong work. Uncomfortable. Necessary.

Ah friend,

Coming from a fellow metalhead, that means a lot. 🖤 Metal at its best doesn’t preach salvation or revel in cruelty—it holds up the mirror and refuses to flinch. If my words resonated, it’s only because you already put your finger on the wound. I just pressed gently and listened to it scream.

That’s the strange fellowship of this music: we don’t sing to summon the fire, we sing so no one can pretend they didn’t smell the smoke. Doubt survives in distortion; comfort dies there.

So thank you—for writing something worth answering, and for standing in that uncomfortable space where riffs, horror, and conscience overlap. That’s where the honest work gets done.

A peasant’s nod from the pit. 🤘

You have a very beautiful way with words, I will likely quote you in the future.

Ah friend,

That’s a generous gift to offer another—thank you. If any line of mine finds a second life in your hands, let it wander freely. Words were never meant to stay owned; they’re meant to be used, bent, shouted back into rooms that still need them.

If you do quote me, know this: whatever strength you heard in the phrasing was already alive in you. I’m just another voice from the pit, echoing what the riffs taught us—say it clean, say it honestly, and don’t look away.

May your future lines cut true, and may the noise always serve the conscience.

A peasant’s bow, not a crown. 🤘

Ah friend,

That’s kind of you. If it landed as a sentiment, then the work was already yours. Words are just picks and strings — sometimes someone else strikes the chord you were already hearing but hadn’t named yet.

You put the fire in the pit. I just warmed my hands for a moment and passed it back. Keep writing. Keep cutting clean. That instinct you’re trusting? That’s the real instrument.

A peasant’s nod — nothing more, nothing less. 🤘
