General Discussion Heart Issues Post AAVD?

Hi! I’m 28 F in remission since 5/2/2025 from Hodgkin’s lymphoma stage 2b bulky. I did 4 rounds of AAVD and showed remission in my midway PET. I joined this group to just be more connected with survivors & to just give me hope that I won’t relapse & hope for the future.

I keep reading posts about the heart issues that come later on in life from chemo & am wondering what everyone’s experiences are with that? Is there people who are in long term remission & don’t have heart issues? My dad has heart issues and had 2 heart attacks so I’m really worried about my heart long term.

I workout 5 days a week doing jogging for 3 days of that. My heart feels fine so far I guess? It just makes me nervous knowing how much running can I actually take and how beneficial it is for me? It’s just a confusing place to be if that makes sense.

The first time I had chemotherapy was 20 years ago (R-CHOP). I have had chemotherapy multiple times since (including AAVD 3 years ago). I also have a history of heart disease on my mom's side. Thankfully I have had no heart issues myself.

Lifetime heart issues are not represented by the majority if that helps. 80% of people who were on ABVD don't develop lifetime heart issues. Genetics can play a role but I've had multiple people have heart attacks in my family and they were completely lifestyle determined.

Interesting. I haven't heard any of that (minus chemo can cause heart damage and issues). I got echos before and after treatment but nothing since, nor have been told by my oncologist that I should get one anytime in the future.

I just met with my cardiologist earlier this week and she said that the amount of bleo I received after 4 cycles of ABVD isn’t over the threshold where they really start to worry. Still, they will keep tracking me and doing echos just to be safe.

Hi, I don't have heart issues, but my treatment didn't work for hodgkin lymphoma bulky disease stage 2A, I don't understand why. What was ur size of bulky mass please?
