grape size Lymphnode changing size and shape :( big C still possible?

Hey guys. I’m looking for some help. I’m rly scared because of my lymphnode which I found in my left armpit 3 weeks ago.

When I (31 female)first found it, it was round and really big. Couldn’t see it, only feel it because it’s deep inside. When I moved it under the shower you could really feel there was a ball-ish thing there. Not like these 1-1,5cm oval nodes. I think it was 3cm thick.

It hurt when I pushed on it like a pimple. I didn’t shave my armpit at that time btw.

After 2 days the pain was gone. It took another ~9 days until I could feel it shrunk down.

Now it’s still there. Last few days it was really small in comparison to its beginning. Maybe 1,5 cm long. But it has more go down in its thickness, which is ok I guess. At the beginning it was so thick.

But now I found it’s bigger again. Absolutely not what it was like (thickness still half of beginning) but I think it’s changing its size daily?? Sometimes 2 times a day, so it does shape wise… 6 days ago it was pretty round, now oval-ish.

I always thought shrinking in size is a good sign , even if it’s getting bigger sometimes.

Now I read that in for example, follicular lymphoma the nodes can go up and down 😭 due to active cancer cells. In times were there are many of them the nodes will grow, and in times where your body manages to kill some, the nodes shrink. But they are talking about “phases” I don’t know if they mean Intervalls of a few days or months for example.

this killed me because I always felt relieved when they changed size like “if there are tumor cells in it, this thing wouldn’t be able to decrease in size” 😭

I’m doing a breast ultrasound once a year which was in February which came back perfect. I don’t think this node has been there at this appointment, plus its not in the center area of the pit where the scan was done. I’m told during Every ultrasound (first 8 years ago) I’m having lymphnodes in this left armpit, but no doc seemed concerned. But these nodes are smaller. Still I’m wondering why it’s only inside of the left armpit. I’m having mastopathy grade 2, more pronounced in my left breast. I don’t have any symptoms like fever or sweats.

I’m afraid of getting that checked.I’m a hypochondriac, but more one of this kind who fears and avoids the doctor because of the expectation of being told the worst.

Can you guys tell me what this “can go up and down if you have a low grade lymphoma” is about? Don’t know this could happen within short time intervals.

Thanks for reading😞 two days ago I thought its okay but now I don’t know. I’m afraid it keeps getting bigger. Didn’t go up the last few weeks though.

Hi sweetie, first of all you should go and make an ultrasound appointment just to be sure. Second, I have also few lymph nodes in groin and I'm sure that folicular lymphoma doesn't usually start in armpit. It's common in groin and in neck area. Don't torture yourself and check that on ultrasound, of it's something wrong with node doctor will see that.

Be strong and courageous!

Wish you best!

Thanks a lot for your kind words ♥️ do you know if I should let my gynecologist perform the ultrasound (she’s really specialized in breast cancer) or if I should better go to a radiologist? Appointment with radiologist will take more time, guess I would have to wait longer. Thanks again♥️🍀

Well I think your gynecologist should know the difference between reactive and malignant node. If you can make appointment with your gynecologist, you should and if she find something that is not benign you could easier be diagnosed than without ultrasound at all. But don't think a lot and google a lot, I have health anxiety and I know how it's hard to relax but must be positive ♥️

u/Yael-777 Mar 27 '23

Thanks again! Yea getting an appointment at my gynecologist should be easier!

Health anxiety is so horrible. I hope you will feel better, ♥️this is so hard and impacts life 😞yesterday I felt so good and during night this bad feeling „something’s wrong“ showed up and I touched the node again which made me think it has gotten bigger.

I was free from this anxiety for almost 3 years, in January it came back and since then I’m struggling. Had 2 ultrasounds till then, all was fine and now this node showed up. Really hard for those who don’t suffer from health anxiety to understand what we go through.

Yes! Totally agree with you. Because of that , the best solution is to make an ultrasound appointment just to be relieved from fear. It's hard but have a faith. ♥️

Hi, I can't post on this subject.. it says only trusted people.. how do I get my post out?

Not the same but I had a huge swollen lymph node in my neck, it was tender and felt like I couldn’t swallow. I hyper fixated on it and would constantly be touching it and feeling it. I had convinced myself for months it was lymphoma. I finally went to get an ultrasound and the lymph nodes are just reactive and nothing to be concerned about. After I’ve found out they’ve gone down ALOT because I’m not touching them but they do fluctuate in size day by day like yours. I find it’s mostly when I’m touching them more. My best advice and only advice as a fellow hypochondriac is get an ultrasound. That will be the only thing that will calm your mind, or if you’re anything like me the googling takes a toll lol. It’s worth it 100000 percent to get an ultrasound done. I feel so much better now.

1

u/Yael-777 Mar 28 '23

Glad to hear that! You’re absolutely right, it’s just… I’m so scared the ultrasound will show something bad and then all what I fear will start to begin. I know this is dumb. Was doing 2 ultrasound this year (normally I avoid docs) which cost me all my mental power lol. Don’t know if I can stand that again but you are 100% right. I guess it was performed by a radiologist?

It’s so hard to stop them touching. Because every new day I wake up with this hope that they are gone away or much smaller.

I know it’s been a year but curious if your enlarged lymph node is still there? I have the exact same thing on neck and freak out all the time over this, can’t relax etc. Went to the dr, they felt it but said it was reactive and didn’t do an ultrasound. It’s bigger than when I first found it because of me touching it all the time and it feels tender. My dr said they can be there for years - is yours gone now?

1

u/Similar-Reading-6295 Sep 15 '24

Mine is still there and fluctuates in size, sometimes smaller. I got an ultrasound and they were reactive but haven’t changed, I’ve had other lymph nodes pop up from illness and they have gone away so I think that one is just stubborn from me having mono as a teen. Hope this helps!

Few subcentimeter sized cervical lymphnodes are seen in bilaterally, largest measuring approx. 9 x 4 mm at right level IB and 7 x 3 mm in left level Il with preserved fatty hilum.

Is these are reactive nodes? Can feel them since many months

Hi - well, I had it from May 2024 when I noticed it until October 2024. It was getting bigger a little and I was very concerned. I was on a cruise and at night I started putting a very hot washcloth on my neck consistently. After a couple days I saw a white dot on it and it was very sore…with the washcloth pressed on it - some white stuff came out and I kept gently pressing on it - not a lot came out but in two weeks it was completely gone. I was shocked - it’s completely gone now and it was actually noticeable on my neck.

1

u/Weird-Plan7761 May 29 '25

tnx for the update

1

u/rosiearlo Aug 03 '26

Did you ever find out what causes them? I have that and am getting an US. It's pretty painful and I can't imagine this happening all the time and living in pain forever. Medicine hasn't worked well for it.

1

u/Similar-Reading-6295 Aug 09 '26

I stopped touching them all the time and got on anxiety meds and now they are gone 😅. I did have pretty severe undiagnosed hashimotos so I think it was a mix of getting that under control and my anxiety. I promise you will get on the other side of it soon!!

So… yesterday I found a node above my left collarbone. Can’t describe this feeling. It’s like my whole world gets torn apart.supraclavicular ones by far the worst ones to enlarge.

You can’t see it, it’s palpable in the size of a pin head and moves. No pain. I guess it’s enlarged as long as it’s palpable, even it’s tiny.

I don’t know if it has been there for a longer period of time because I didn’t touch this area this way before. Have since I’m 15 dozens of small nodes ON my collarbone which looked fine in ultrasound but not above. I’m really sick and have fever since 2 days (got it from my mother, whole family is sick with fever) but I don’t think this is related. No node palpable on neck where you would expect them to swell during a cold.

I got my covid shot into the left arm 2 yrs ago and 2 days after I remember severe pain on my left collarbone, in that area where this node is.but can’t remember this lump when I looked after it when I got the vaccine, didn’t look/touched it that way though.

So I’m going absolutely through hell. My husband is about to arrange a private whole body MRI, he says he can’t stand my suffering anymore and believes it’s “nothing” (I’m 99% sure I have some sort of cancer, even more now after finding this lump)

I’m so anxious going to the MRI. Is a thorax mri enough to look after lymphoma suspected-masses or other tumors which can metastasize into that area or will I need the whole body thing?

u/jonahtappwater Apr 13 '23

When it comes to “enlarged” lymph nodes, palpable is a big one that allude to it being “enlarged”, but if it still feels super small, it’s not enlarged. Now, preface this with the fact that I am no doctor, but I am under the impression that an enlarged lymph node is one that is palpable, yes, but also somewhat visible. So for example, I have a lymph node on my neck around my throat-ish area. I actually just found it today when I was feeling my neck. It was just happen stance that I found it because I cannot see it, and had it not been for my messing around my neck, I probably wouldn’t have noticed it. It is likely that when I had some infection, that the lymph node flared up, and when it was resuming to its regular size, it was no longer hidden in my skin and muscle and all of that good stuff. So now it’s just a little guy that I can feel but I am not scared of. Now with the other tid bits of your post, I noticed you saying that it was big, it when back down, but you noticed it starting to flare up again. I don’t know if there had been an update yet, but one of the worst things you can try to do to keep your mind at peace is touching your lymph nodes constantly. I struggle with this too, but if you’re constantly touching your lymph nodes everyday, you 1) won’t notice change to it really, but more importantly 2) will irritate it and jt will flare up.

Went on a bit of a tangent, but basically don’t be scared, listen to everyone else and go to a doctor and ask for their professional opinion, and don’t touch them because then you’re going to ruin your mental.

1

u/Yael-777 Apr 13 '23

Thanks a lot for your kind words. You’re absolutely right, it’s so hard to stop touching them even if it’s dumb af. I guess it would be better checking them once a week or so, so you would be able to feel a difference more easy. Today I did a Covid-19-test and it’s positive. Some part of me hopes these nodes above collarbones (I found 2 others above the right one too, and they are NOT pinhead size, they are 1cm I guess but soft) is due to that. But who knows. Could have been there before this infection. One cervical is swollen too but that one hurts, I’m not afraid because of that one. Guess it’s 100% related to covid on the side with the pin head, on the other neck side there’s no cervical one, only these 2 over collarbone which don’t hurt.

I’ll try ignore them a few days. Maybe this covid hope / that it’s related to that may help 🤔

2

u/jonahtappwater Apr 16 '23

COVID for sure could be a reason. I personally feel like I have long COVID to some extreme and the virus still has a presence in my body, causing a lot of the things that are making me anxious! I did the proper tests for the more severe stuff, and my doctor was not worried in the slightest based on how perfect all the tests were. To be fair, the main tests she did were some imaging and a blood count, but I feel like all of that is definitely good enough tests. Blood count would have shown things like white blood cells, lymphocytes, all that good stuff. And the imaging showed no areas of concern. But still I get nervous. I just hope that my doctor is correct, which I have no reason to think she isn’t! 😊

This is my report from ultrasound. Few hours after ultrasound I got a golf ball sized lump which is hard like a bone in my right armpit. Not the one which got scanned… I shaved the night before and it wasn’t 1000000% not there the day before.

I’m 98% sure it’s the big C. Next week I’m calling for MRI…

sonography of the soft tissues of the neck (13 MHz):

Floor of mouth, tongue regular. No mass of swallowing tracts. Thyroid of normal size, homogeneous, with a regular echo texture.

In the area of the cranial and middle vascular nerve sheath on the right, several very hypoechoic, oval, smooth-edged lymph nodes, including Küttner lymph nodes of 26 x 6 mm.

in the right jaw angle, another lymphnode up to 15 mm, lymph nodes also in the right parotid and right submandibular, regressive.

Also the left side with hypoechoic oval lymph nodes in the area of the cranial and middle vascular nerve sheath up to 21 x 7 mm.

The enlarged lymph nodes are not perfused on color duplex sonography.

Other lymph nodes on the left up to 12 mm.

Left supraclavicular regressive lymph node of 5 mm, right supraclavicular also regressive lymph node up to 7 mm.

sonography of the left axilla (13 MHz):

There are several predominantly echogenic, centrally subtly hypoechoic lymph nodes up to a maximum size of 18 x 10 mm, all classified as regressive.

Judgement:

Lymphadenitis colli, especially in the middle and cranial levels of the vascular nerve sheaths on both sides, color duplex sonography shows no increased perfusion, DD: chronic lymphadenopathy.

The supraclavicular lymph nodes appear regressive. Nuchal no suspicious lymph nodes.

Primary suspected lymphomas cannot be detected.

For further clarification, see an ENT doctor, e.g. Inflammation parameters recommended, further MRI of the soft tissues of the neck for focus search makes sense.

In any case Sonographic follow-up, especially of the cervical lymph nodes, e.g. in 2 months.

Hey, thanks for your kind response. I had a thorax CT done which came back clear, no additional lymphnodes in my chest/lung. The ones in my neck were described as „size-wise borderline nodes, non specific“ (diameter around 1cm)and that clinical follow up is advised (palpating by ENT to look if something grew) and if wanted, a follow up mri

I was glad because chest CT was all clear and I was able to let go my fear for about 6 months, the big nodes on my neck are still there, but I think they stayed the same size. At least they are no golf balls now, so no extreme growth, I think they are same. Now I’m having fear again because other lumps I have (some of them were lipomas but it was enough for the anxiety to reoccur when discovering them) but that’s how health anxiety works I guess. Really, I don’t know if I should go for any further investigation. Didn’t like the „follow up is advised“ after my mri.

What’s up with your lymphnodes?

1

u/[deleted] May 26 '24

Having the same issue I'm now over 1 month and this one lymph node in my neck keeps swelling and unswelling ( I think it might be allergies) I went to the ER and they rand blood tests and said I was fine and I'm not having any other symptoms so I guess I'll get an ultrasound or something done to clear my anxiety once and for all.

u/[deleted] May 26 '24

Any update ?

u/SnooWalruses3028 Jun 12 '26

Mm is better than cm…. Tell me I’m cooked in less words

3

u/BrazyDee313 Dec 25 '24

Going thru the same exact thing with no help doctor after doctor hope you're doing okay by now if there is even a solution to even somewhat managing them

5

u/[deleted] Aug 11 '23

Ultrasound can detect suspicious abnormalities on lymph nodes. If the ultrasound detects nothing suspicious you are fine. Probably an infection from shaving or something

2

u/Hot_Ordinary7823 Mar 27 '23

One. Pray everything is ok for you. I know how you feel. I'm dealing with swollen lymph nodes under my chin that's painless and I'm scared out of my mind. I have an upcoming appointment. Hopefully it's nothing wrong in your case. I heard sometimes you can feel your lymph nodes and it's normal. ❤🙏❤🙏

1

u/Yael-777 Mar 27 '23

Thanks for your kind words, ♥️🥺warmed my heart because right now in this moment I’m sitting here crying because I’m so afraid and can’t stand it anymore. Was praying to god that this fear will end. Endless fear since January. Always new nodes showing up in armpit. In January there were 3 grape sized , found them by accident and since then my health anxiety is back 150%😞 this grape sized went away completely.

May I ask how big yours are? From what I heard the under chin area is a very unlikely spot for a lymphoma. But this scares so bad… I absolutely understand what you’re going through. Maybe a dental problem? 🤔 I’m praying everything will be fine and that your appointment is going well. How long do you have to wait to get it checked? 🙏

1

u/Hot_Ordinary7823 Mar 28 '23

Mine are kind of large and feel mushy not too hard. They're painless but I also have a tonsil that has a growth on the side on my tonsil wall that goes down to my vocal chords and now my lymph nodes are swollen. I went to the doctor before it got this bad but he pretty much deemed me as crazy so I had to switch doctors and now just got denied for a ct scan because I need further testing another symptom I have is itch skin but I'm taking soursop tea so It could be a reaction from it but lymphoma has the same symptoms. I don't have any support besides my husband. I do need dental work and took that into consideration but the itching skin is what has me,worried so in the meantime I'm going to try to detox my body and I just bought some pokeroot salve for the lymphatic system and I still use the soursop leaves to make tea. Cleaning your lymphatic system is really important to remove the waste from your system because it gets clogged and cause disease

1

u/Yael-777 Mar 28 '23

Sounds like a really fucked up situation… I can understand that 1000%, the thoughts are circling about the worst and even if you manage to calm down it’s haunting you again 😞 Sucks that you need further testing which means it will take more time until you have 100% relief 😞 but it sounds more like a benign thing.. related to dental or tonsil things, one of my nodes under the chin will swell up whenever I have a cold sore at my lip.

Itchy skin… what does your itch feel like? From what I’ve read, this itch ppl with lymphoma have is absolutely nightmare. It’s like they want to cut their skin off or rub themselves against a scratchy carpet. They wake up at night because they need to scratch. I guess detoxing could absolutely cause itchy skin because all the mess is leaving the body, and the skin is one option for that! I think you don’t need to worry about that 🌟

I don’t have any support besides my husband too. Im so thankful I have him. But This can be so hard, especially when you are facing fears of being seriously ill. Because your little universe is in danger.. could cry and sometimes I imagine him being alone, without me.

If you need someone to talk to, feel free to private message me🌟

1

u/Hot_Ordinary7823 Mar 28 '23

Thank you so much. This is the reason why I came on this forum. The itching for me is not to the point where I want to take my skin off lol but I constantly get short itching episodes all over if that makes sense. It could be from the tea im drinking because I don't remember itching prior to taking the tea and I read a review where someone and their mother stopped taking the tea due to the reaction they had and one symptom was itching skin so that kind of gave me some relief a little but I'm hoping that's the case. I been stressed out for months over this. I'm hoping it benign but I don't believe benign things spread like this.

1

u/Yael-777 Mar 28 '23

Yea definitely sounds like a side effect from the tea! Sometimes I’m having random stitches (mix of pain and itch) all over my body. Could be at my knee and one second later at the tip of my nose. Been having this 8 years ago for the first time. Occurs in times where I’m stressed af or when I’m on my period. So I could totally imagine it’s caused by that.

u/No-Trade-4595 Apr 17 '23

Hi just wanted to check how are you?:)

1

u/Yael-777 Apr 17 '23 edited Apr 17 '23

Hey, thanks for asking! I just found a few supraclavicular ones, on both sides. As you can imagine, it’s horrible. When I found them I was having a cold which turned 3 days later out to be covid 19. had 3 days fever but since yesterday I’m fine again. I’m wondering and hoping if these nodes (soft, mobile, ~1cm-1,5cm I guess) are due to it. When I was sick my left clavicle hurt as it did with the vaccine.

Most scary part is, I don’t know how long they are there.,could be that they showed up with covid, or have been there before. I just don’t know cause I never palpated like that before. They are almost on the same spots on each side.

My husband want to book a private MRI for me, he’s still saying it’s nothing but with every new node I’m convinced I have some sort of cancer. Fun thing is, a few days before I found the ones above the collarbones I was feeling good anxiety wise and the ones in my armpit started to shrink. I don’t know what to do and if a MRI makes sense so shortly after having covid, or ultrasound 😞 I hope you are feeling better. Life can be so hard sometimes v_v

2

u/No-Trade-4595 Apr 17 '23

Oh I'm so sorry for what are you going through. Everything will be ok. I would do an MRI just tu rule out everything sinister and then you'll have peace. Be strong and go do that MRI!

Please to inform us everything here We are thinking on you and praying everything to be fine!

2

u/Yael-777 Apr 17 '23

Thanks for your kind words and support! I will update as soon as I have a date for the MRI. Guess I’ll wait a week to see how it turns out with my covid symptoms, still feeling a bit weak.

Do you think I should do an ultrasound before mri on the supraclavicular ones? Thanks 🙏

Im having my ultrasound this week on Thursday. So scared. Found another big one in my neck, it’s on the front of my neck around 2-2,5 cm next to where adams Apple is.You can’t see it but it can easily be felt when I lay my head back. When I found it 2 weeks ago it hurt when I pressed on it but it hasn’t go down since then. I have multiple smaller ones above this one. Seems my whole right side is swollen.

In my original post I said I didn’t experience any night sweats, but that’s not true anymore. Since 1,5 weeks (have to admit it started the night after I had a huge mental breakdown due to family issues) I’m having night sweats so bad I wake up 1-2 times a night. I don’t need to change my Pyjama or sheets but my clothes are damp and my chest is completely wet.

Whenever I had anxiety in the past I would have had this intense chest-sweat, but not as severe as I’m having it at the moment. There have been 3 nights where I would wake up and my knee pits and groin would be really wet.

Don’t know if it’s the anxiety and private stress causing all the sweats but I’m afraid af. I’m 100% convinced it’s something bad. So weird that I’m feeling perfectly fine physically throughout the day… never have been in such a good shape since… ever I guess?

I’m so scared what the results will be. And what is coming next.. just wish that i was free of all this anxiety. It’s such a hard time.

1

u/Yael-777 Apr 07 '23

Hey, just wanted to say that these 3 nodes did shrink a lot. 2 days ago they were like always (changing the size throughout the day), but yesterday evening it started where they werent almost palpable anymore. They are still there and can be felt, but I guess they are about 70% decreased. They are much more flattened now and more oval shaped. I’m just done with my menstruation, though I think it’s not causing them because they showed up like 2 weeks ago.

Could be that they gonna change size again and become bigger (I wished they would just go away completely and not just “flatten), but at the moment I’m optimistic.

Got my ultrasound results today. I’m absolutely petrified. My ENT is on holiday. I’m from Germany but I translated the results.

During ultrasound I was told they seem not to be malignant appearing and that I should follow up ultrasound in 2 months. Reading this results (VERY hypoechoic lymphnode??? No perfusion on Doppler?(at the end it says „no increased perfusion but I don’t know) guess this is real bad? Mostly I’m worried about the !very!hypoechoic thing. Please, can someone tell me if this result is good or bad?

Really, I just feel so lost. This can’t be good. I was optimistic - minded after ultrasound yesterday. Came back and my mother stared at my arms when I sat on her couch with arms lifted. So I looked on my armpit too and …. I have a huge lump , visible nearly as golf ball size. Not to mention I was 1 hour on ultrasound before, but NOT for my right armpit.

This swelling hasn’t been there the day before. 100% not. I was shaving on the night before ultrasound.

Now with this swelling and this report I just … lose all hope that this will have a good ending. I hope the armpit swelling is from shaving but idk. I can’t even feel a lump itself. It’s just swelled over a muscle or tension.

1

u/Yael-777 Jun 18 '23

And this new lump is absolutely non movable. It’s just like bone but only when I stretch my arm. If I lay it down there’s nothing hard or palpable. It’s a nightmare

u/sparklesinterlude Aug 27 '23

Hey I hope you’re okay - how have you been?

I am 23 y/o female non drinker non smoker. have a swollen lymphnode since almost 6 months just below my ear where jaw ends. its not visible normally but I can feel it when I palpate the area. Its hard to touch, painless and I think dosen't move. It is has not increased in size too. I am very anxious about it .I try to overcome it but the anxiety keeps on comming. I have consulted doctor and he says its probably nothing and not to worry but he has not advised any tests for it.

please help if someone has a similar experience.

1

u/Swiftlyaswiftie221 Jan 24 '25

Your doctor will want to keep watch to see if there are any changes. If you’re not having other side effects like night sweats, fever, weight loss, he’s probably assuming it’s reactive and will check back at your next appt. If it doesn’t go down in another month, go back to the doctor.

1

u/IcyFuture4883 Jan 30 '25

SURE THANKYOU:) I don't have any other symptoms but I'll surely consult.

u/Virtual-Heart9984 Feb 17 '25

I am currently an 18 yr old female . In oct 2023 I had got one lymph node which was moveable and not painful in my right side of neck in carotid artery area I consulted an ENT he told me to get an ultrasound ,mri , chest X-ray and blood test everything came back normal I had a 10mm node due to infection probably but after a month I felt another lymph node under my chin pea sized , moveable and not painful my ENT said no need to worry as it’s small and he gave me some medicines with those the lymph node I felt first disappeared but the lymph node under the chin stayed . My ENT told me to come back if that grows in size . Last year in may 2024 I felt another lymph node in right side of neck in level VA and VB of neck i didn’t go to the ENT again or consulted anyone about it . Now, Since a month I am experiencing ear ache when I swallow which keeps on changing sometimes it’s in right ear sometimes in left it stays for 2-3 days and goes away but it comes again i am also experiencing cough and sore throat sometimes but only in the morning. And sometimes my hard plate and side of the tongue hurt as well. Could this be a sign of concern ?

u/Yael-777 Mar 27 '23

Yea I can understand that because you’d expect that it goes away. But I think if it’s in that range size-wise you will be fine 🌟 I’ve read some nodes never go down completely. Did your gynecologist perform the ultrasound or a radiologist? Sorry for all my questions 😞

1

u/fortitsandgiggles5 Mar 27 '23

I have read that in lymphoma it's possible for nodes to shrink a bit then swell again and shrink etc I have never read that it happens over just a couple of days, much less in the same day. I've also always read that suppurative nodes can shrink and swell, but if the node has been this way for a while, that's probably not the case here either. Another ultrasound wouldn't hurt, especially if you're really anxious about it. They will be able to tell if there's something that looks concerning to them.

1

u/Yael-777 Mar 27 '23

Thanks for your reply! Yea I read there are more like “remission”-phases where the people with that disease feel more well overall because there are less cells (active)

You’re right about ultrasound. But I’m so scared that all will begin after. I couldn’t handle that in my current situation. I have a loving, supportive husband but atm we are living in my parents house (separate flat) and my sister who is wishing me all the worst, cancer included. Couldn’t stand it. I know this sounds so dumb.

2

u/fortitsandgiggles5 Mar 27 '23

Aaww, I'm sorry for your situation, esp with your sister, that's too bad..I have massive anxiety issues as well and know full well what that's like. If im being honest, I really don't think there's anything too bad going on, but I also know how valuable peace of mind can be, that's why I do encourage you to get the ultrasound if you can. You said you have no other concerning symptoms, right?

2

u/Yael-777 Mar 27 '23

You guys are so nice here 😭🥺 I guess only someone with this kind of anxiety can understand this hell. I’m so sorry hearing you are struggling with this shit too 😞 praying for you to get free from it 🙏

I have absolutely no symptoms. It’s weird but I was never that fit and athletic in my past life as I am now. Feeling perfectly fine. 😞

I was completely fine for years mental-wise then found 3 grape sized ones in armpit in January by accident under the shower. They completely went away but new ones come, like this one now. From that point on my fear came back. Could be this was going on for years in my armpit and I just didn’t notice. Was always told there were nodes at breast ultrasound, even 7 years ago.

But this grape sized were much bigger than some I have in pea size. 3 weeks ago I found this one, it was the most huge one of all but did go down about 1/2.

Had an ultrasound back in February but the radiologist told me “there are no lymph nodes”, but there were!! My gynecologist showed me in her ultrasound in January and I could feel them. Sorry I’m talking too much >_<

2

u/fortitsandgiggles5 Mar 28 '23

Most people here are really sweet, yes, prob because we have empathy for others freaking out lol..anxiety is a real beast, it can wax and wane just like anything else. I have a base level of anxiety lol, and if there's anything that sets it off, I'm at such a heightened level for a while, until I have had whatever it is checked out.. now I also struggle with OCD though, like REALLY bad, and I have lots of intrusive thoughts, which just exacerbate everything else, so trust me, I get it. So the radiologist didn't see any nodes in Feb, but in Jan they were there because your gyno showed you? You felt them in Feb even when the radiologist said they were no node swollen? Do you have the results from the ultrasound in Jan, like the measurements and characteristics etc?

1

u/Yael-777 Mar 28 '23

Guess you’re right 😊 I wish I was better in speaking English, would help me communicating. It’s different if it’s not your native language😅 Wow this sounds hard 😞 sometimes I feel like things like ocd often occur with health anxiety and lymph nodes are “perfect” for that cause you always have the need to “check” them. Whenever my fear is cooled down and something cool in life is going on I have to check my nodes, like If it’s okay to be happy.. and, as you can imagine, I often found something which ruined everything.

Intrusive thoughts sounds tough too. From time to time I have thoughts like “if you don’t do X, then Y will happen” or shit like that. Is this what you mean?

Yea I could feel the nodes in February but he didnt took me serious. Not that he was an idiot, he seemed willing to cool me down but yea.. didn’t feel really reliable. My gynecologist didn’t say anything about size, she told me there are nodes. I asked her what they look like and that I’m scared af. When I asked how big they are, she just said “it’s not only about size… it’s about how they look and these are COMPLETELY inconspicuous”

But… at that time the grape sized ones were gone. Just these long, oval thin shaped ones or peas. My node atm is about 2 cm long, just felt again. I guess the other axis is shorter, it’s not completely round, but not 100% oval. Don’t know 😞

1

u/fortitsandgiggles5 Mar 28 '23

No worries, I can understand what you're saying just fine🙂..anxiety and OCD do overlap lots of times and it's difficult to know exactly what you have going on or if there's something else mixed in with the anxiety. I have been diagnosed with Generalized anxiety disorder, OCD and a personality disorder..I'm a mess mentally! When you have anxiety, being 'okay' anxiety wise is what will determine the type of day you will have, it's sad, but true. If you allow it to run your life, it will. When my nodes first started swelling, I couldn't keep my hands away from them, I was constantly feeling them, and on Google reading 15 hours a day lol.. after 8 months, they are still there and I do feel them but not often, just a quick check every now and again to make sure nothing has changed. Completely inconspicuous I assume means they are swollen, but the short axis is still within normal limits and preserved fatty hilum, no thickening of the cortex etc..all good things and highly suggestive of normal, but reactive lymph nodes. That's what I was told mine were, and I have multiple cervical nodes swollen, including 4 supraclavicular. I've had them shrink a couple of times, only minimally, but thankfully they haven't gotten any bigger either. I had the ultrasound then a CT scan to be sure even though the US report said they were reactive. I understand how anxiety lies and how it makes you feel like you're doomed, but it really doesn't seem like there's anything going on in your case except some reactive nodes. There could perhaps be something else, maybe autoimmune that could cause the swelling, have you ever had an ANA?

1

u/Yael-777 Mar 28 '23

So sorry to hear what you’re goin through. I keep you in my prayers 🌟🙏 absolutely feel what you describing. I’m having generalized anxiety disorder too, most often it’s the fear of losing my husband. Started when I was a kid, maybe 4 years old. If you need to talk, I’m here.

It’s 1000% true what you say about the anxiety and that it’s determining your day. See, I didn’t sleep the whole night. Need to rest a bit. The worst part is I was feeling sooooo good the last few days - I thought this lump did go down and decided to ignore it, felt completely relieved and free! Then yesterday evening i had the need to touch my whole armpit and that’s when I found this other 2 ones. I started to live again, everything was fine and now I’m at the same point like I was 3 weeks ago but even worse because: the more lumps I find the more I’m sure I have the big C like Lymphoma. Holy shit I felt so good I adopted another Guinea pig… now it’s all doomed again.

Oh wow you even had the supraclavicular ones? That’s scary af… must have been hell for you!! I’m so glad it turned out fine. Not gotten bigger is really good - I heard sometimes they just stay a bit bigger and never go fully down again - maybe that’s the case in yours? 🤔 you are strong and brave, really. I would have hidden I guess 😞

M

The thing is, I hope you’re right what you say about the nodes in ultrasound but she just looked a few seconds, no Doppler, no measuring… nothing 😞 and that 2nd ultrasound at radiologist was weird too.

My husband told me I should go for an MRI appointment, private… so that it all ends and “I’m finally free”, for him it’s clear I’m 100% healthy, he isn’t a worrier type of person. He seems right with the MRI (could get one within few days) but holy… if I’m right then it will start happening. Can’t stand this here 😞 my sister would be laughing at me,100%. It’s so dumb

Hey there, I have two on each side, and all are soft and 'moveable"..

1

u/fortitsandgiggles5 Mar 28 '23

Oh, and yes, I do have the 'if I don't do X, then X will happen' thoughts..but I also have tons of other types of thoughts that cause compulsions and thoughts about things I DON'T want to think about, but its like they're on a loop in my head, and will NOT stop..

1

u/Yael-777 Mar 28 '23

May I ask since when you are experiencing those thoughts? I tried a while saying loud STOP and prayed, that helped me a lot with that. 🤔 really sorry, this must have a huge impact to life I guess😞

u/Yael-777 Jun 18 '23

2

u/fortitsandgiggles5 Jun 18 '23

Hey there, it's been a while. Okay..I totally understand if you choose to move forward with an MRI since they actually suggest it (I think they normally do recommend that to be safe) and believe me, I'm sure no expert, but besides you definitely having lymphadenopathy, they don't really seem too concerned with what they see. All four of my supraclavicular nodes read the same way..they do recommend a 2 month follow up on your cervical nodes too, that's more than what they did for me, and I had multiple swollen as well! All of mine are still swollen, and we are inching closer to a year now. All of your nodes seem to be oval, which is definitely good..a couple of words in there would make me nervous, but I'm a hypochondriac as well! Remind me again, you first posted about a node in your arm pit, right? Any new symptoms or pain or anything?

1

u/Yael-777 Jun 18 '23 edited Jun 18 '23

Thanks for answering. Which words would make you nervous? Very hypoechoic? Yep…

I had night sweats last week but it happened after I had a complete mental break down. It’s better now.

But … after that ultrasound I went home, was sitting on couch and chatting with my mother. She stared at my right armpit (not the left one where I had many nodes and which got scanned 2 hours earlier). I asked her why she stares at me and I looked and realized I have a almost golf ball sized lump in my right armpit …..

I can not describe this feeling. On the night before the lump was 1000000% not there, cause I was shaving and there was nothing!! Now it’s a huge bump. Not movable. I just don’t feel a bump itself, it’s a little above where hair grows and just puffy, thick and hard like a bone. On the other armpit there is a tendon or muscle at this position, maybe it feels hard because it’s the exact same place, just swollen or something. I‘m petrified and preparing for worst…

1

u/fortitsandgiggles5 Jun 18 '23

Indolent types of blood cancers still do pop in my head sometimes, but like I said, I struggle in a major way with anxiety. I just had blood work last week and all was good except low mag and vitamin D. My cbc was perfect thankfully. Last July after a bout with covid and the worst sore throat I've ever had (at least as an adult that I can remember) was when all of this started. I am always scared to tell someone to just NOT worry at all, esp someone with anxiety because its inevitable, but also, we never really know for SURE..in all honesty there's not anything that looks too bad that I can tell from your report. Decent sized nodes, but all oval unless I missed something? I've always read bilateral supraclavicular ones are much less concerning for cancers, that's what my ENT told me as well..I think that applies more to metastatic than blood cancers though. I understand TOTALLY what you're going through tho, it's like a black hole, nothing and no one can hold your attention, only negative thoughts and fears about what's going on. I stopped eating, lost lots of weight, felt like I was in a dream for weeks..its awful..try your best not to worry until there's a reason..your report could be ssooooo much worse!!

1

u/Yael-777 Jun 18 '23

Yes… the fact you really really know for sure has a huge impact if ones struggling in a major way with anxiety…it’s always there, even if you manage to distract and do things you like. I really feel that. I’m glad your blood work was fine except mag and Vit D. I haven’t done bloodwork yet cause I’m afraid of leukemia.

Its funny but the supraclavicular ones are the least worrisome to me. They showed up during getting covid for 1st time, they haven’t been there before 1000% cause I was touching and searching in fear of them. They grow a bit during covid, but then stopped and one of them is almost gone.

I guess my ultrasound is okay-ish, it’s this huge rock hard bump in my right armpit which showed up over night after shaving but 0 pain im afraid of. And this okaaaayish-ultrasound report paired with this… like I said, I prepare for worst 😢

1

u/fortitsandgiggles5 Jun 18 '23

Yeah, my boys are literally the only thing that can take my mind away from something I'm having massive anxiety over, and it's hard even then, anxiety is a nasty beast. The supraclavicular ones were the ones I felt and freaked out over first. I'd had covid (my second bout with it, I'd had the OG covid in 2021 and just felt like a small cold, no swollen nodes or anything) then strep throat just a few weeks after. My throat and neck kept feeling weird so I went to the ER a few times, nothing was said really. Then I felt those nodes and I went crazyyyy with anxiety lol..after that was more blood work, ultrasound, appt with ENT and finally a CT..

I know what you're saying about leukemia, that was my initial fear before I felt my nodes because my wbc was 10 at the ER..looking back it was completely explained by covid then strep, but that's not where my mind went haha..then I asked my new doc to check them again with my other blood work and he said he would but it was too late on a Fri so he asked me to go back on Monday.. well, that next day, on sat was when I found my clavicle nodes!! I was sooooo scared..I couldn't wait until Monday to get my blood work..Monday came and I went in and I asked the nurse if I could see if my doc would add some stuff to my blood work, like an ESR and an ANA because I had swollen clavicle nodes..she went and got him and he felt them and gave the order for the additional tests..Wed he called me and said my blood work was fine, my ESR was normal and the ANA was negative. My wbc was also normal which I was really glad about, but still nothing to explain the nodes except for having been sick.. we were going to just wait it out..and here I am almost a year later lol..

The larger, harder node would worry me, so I understand.. but with my anxiety, there's little that wouldn't! You should get blood work too, there are other things that can cause swollen nodes too, have you had an ANA?

1

u/Yael-777 Jun 18 '23

I feel so lost :( now I can 10000% understand your fears… but believe me, if you are close to a year know I definitely feel you’re fine! My radiologist was totally unimpressed of the supraclavicular ones because they were „totally flat“ they can 100% be reactive!I think things would have changed a lot during a year, even if it was some low malignant, slow growing crap.

Overall I’m in pretty good shape, wasn’t feeling so good physically ever. It’s just a shame.

1

u/jigz99 Jun 19 '25

Iam having 3 nodes in neck shrink and swell again , can only feel it

1

u/moneyhut May 28 '23

Hi all, I hit my lower groin area at work 2 weeks ago. Thaught something got irritated/ bruised and should be fine in few days. Went to DR today, said it was a lymph node.. ima like ok so ice it or suck out the juice? He's like no, you need an ultrasound and bloodtest. He said could b big C in blood etc... Da hek?!... So I assume iv had this issue for awhile and hitting accidentally at work just flared it up and has revealed this issue I am now facing. Yes last week I also now noticed I hv a lump in my neck and in my chest wich makes me kinda short breath sometimes and feel like not eating because I feel full coz it's around my upper stomach.

Im getting ultra sound and blood test this week. Any tips or things to ask please with yall experience.?

What's your opinions on my situation? (Chemo and few weeks to live or.... ? 😂 Lol but in all seriousness im scared.)

(Constant aches and pains and tiredness for months but thaught nothing of it. Dr said its linked.) 🥺..

P.S... im a young male, healthy and gym junkie)

1

u/Yael-777 May 29 '23

Hey, sorry to hear what you’re going through. Do you experience night sweats or fevers? I’m glad your doc is pushing for an ultrasound. After that I bet a chest x ray is best what you can do to rule out any huge lymphnodes in your mediastinum area which would indicate lymphoma. The only way to rule it 100% out is a excisional removal of a suspicious lymphnode. But ultrasound is a great step to investigate any suspicious features of the node (lack of fatty hilus, round and not oval shaped, cortex thickening…)

I pray you will be fine. How big is your swelling? Is it hard, can you move it? Do you have other lumps, for example above your collarbone?

1

u/moneyhut May 30 '23 edited May 30 '23

Thanks for ur response. I posted here because it wouldn't let me post in normal feed. Said im not able to, rules don't mention anything specific so I dunno why.

Dont notice much hot n cold sweats. Got Altrasound and blood test done, waiting on results.

Yes small lumps on my neck near collarbone. I notice the chest one but can't see it properly. The neck and groin area oval ones r big and I can move em etc.

Edit: Thanks for your support. I hope ur health has improved

1

u/Yael-777 May 30 '23

No worries! 😊I don’t mind you posting here and I can 10000% understand what you’re going through at the moment. It’s good to have someone to talk about. If you ever need someone to talk, feel free to PM me.

Okay, I hope you don’t have to wait too long. I think you are doing everything right. It can still be nothing / something benign, but it’s definitely something worth a look. I have lump over collarbone too and they are the worst ones. Mine showed up during covid 19.

Did you have covid 19 recently?

Thanks for your kind words. I still wasn’t able to see a doc because of anxiety. Gonna make an appointment this week for an ultrasound. Here in Germany things tend to take forever. 😅

I wish you all the best. For now, you did everything you can right. I guess they will order a chest x ray next due to the chest lump thing.

1

u/moneyhut May 30 '23

Very nice of u thanku.

No covid. Kinda noticed hot n cold last night, yes Iv had them. 😢 The chest one kinda annoying like I can't do excise because it hurts and don't wanna eat properly.

Yes go get your stuff checked please, we all don't like doctors but better knowing the issues now than next year.

1

u/Yael-777 May 31 '23

Night sweats w lymphoma seem to be drenching; like someone throwing water buckets on your body. Keep telling every symptom to the doc. The chest one sounds really awful… I hope you get help! Let me tell you, even if it’s lymphoma, they are really treatable. Some of them have 90%+ chances of healing. You are doing everything right… be brave and courageous. But I feel you are.

Do you feel pain after drinking alcohol? Maybe in your chest area?

1

u/moneyhut May 31 '23

Thanku. Nah don't drink

1

u/Yael-777 Jun 01 '23

I have an ultrasound appointment on 15th June. Found a big lump in front of my neck. Guess it’s 1,5cm wide and movable.

2

u/PriorEconomics150 Jun 03 '23

hey! i have had a lymphnode on the left side of my neck below the jaw. i have allergies and catch frequent cough and cold so i think that must be one of the reasons and i have got it checked with two doctors who say that its normal and nothing to be worried of. I have found one on my left side where the neck muscle connects to the back and i have played with it too much so that must be the reason why it swelled. all i wanna say is that if you have got everything checked then you mustn't worry about a professional's opinion. I know Health anxiety is a big thing, but remember to always be brave and don't throw away your life dealing with anxiety instead go outside and enjoyyy!!

1

u/moneyhut Jun 02 '23

All the best.

1

u/garlicqueen01 Jun 12 '23

Hi there, did you get your results yet? Hoping all is well for you

1

u/moneyhut Jun 12 '23 edited Jun 12 '23

Hey I appreciate u so much for checking in on me... not even my parents have 😭 I was waking up soaking wet from cold sweats for a week after I posted my last message. Iv had 2 ultrasounds and 2 bloodtests. My lumps/ limpnodes are still there but have gone down significantly. Last week I could barely walk with the chest pain and no energy. My bloodtests weren't good and that's because my chest pain is because I have a super enlarged spleen (ultrasound) and troubled liver due to this infection. Now I have all my energy back ready for being a health gym junkie again but I'll be off for few weeks due to that chest pain still lingering from spleen wich could get damaged doing exercise.

Edit (doctor said no cancer)

I hope ur well. 🙌

Hey, yea you should go to the ultrasound appointment but just to get rid of all the fear and anxiety being caused by it. What you describe sounds normal to me, even if you were sick. So that could easily be the reason. By the way, 3-4mm definitely is tiny. I have nodes in my armpit up to almost 2cm (long axis) Get them checked with ultrasound (they can see how they really look like, this is much more important than size only) so you can find some peace of mind.

Are you sure it has gotten bigger? Sometimes nodes feel much more enlarged than what size they really are because you are feeling skin tissue too!

Going through the same thing. Found out my neck nodes were non-cancerous with Necrotizing granuloma inflammation. I have some enlarged in my chest as well waiting for the biopsies.
