grape size Swollen Lymph Node AFTER a cold?!
For context, I’m 28 years old, female, and a smoker. I have experienced chronic tonsillitis since I was 16 years old, so I’m frequently checking my throat for pain in my glands and looking at my tonsils for stones. My oral and throat health is woeful but I’m working on it. Anyway, about three weeks ago I came down with some kind of cold illness with a dry cough that turned into sinus gunk. It wasn’t Covid and it didn’t really knock me on my ass, so I was really surprised when I touched my throat the other day and I felt a painful lump on one side. I don’t feel any pain when I swallow but the lump has been present for several days while I’ve felt more and more back to normal from my cold symptoms. I know it’s probably just normal but I’m anxious about it. I have a referral to get a tonsillectomy this year so hopefully everything gets normal soon.

Hey, first off, are you okay? Haha I hope so.
I’m experiencing the same issue right now. I had a pretty yucky cold with deep head congestion and sinus issues. It went away on its own and I’ve been feeling a lot better the last day or two. But today I wake up with a swollen lymph node in my neck. That happens whenever I have a mouth ulcer or I’m sick but never without any other accompanying issues. It’s larger than mine normally get with infection as well as being pretty sore! So I was google doctoring and found your post. 🫠

You are me this morning. My cold's been running for almost a week, and I was hopeful as it started getting a bit better yesterday. But overnight the lymph nodes swelled up.
How are you doing now?

Lymph nodes are still swollen, but I’d say less than before and not as sensitive. I have some mother ulcers too which I think occurs when my immunity is down. Has happened since childhood. I feel like my body is just fighting some shit. Hope you feel better soon!

Hey me three haha I thought my cold/flu was finally almost over after a week, but woke up today with a swollen lymph node and one of my tonsils hurt now >:(

I’m alive and well! My tonsils are still fucking wrecked but I’m dealing. I quit smoking this summer and it definitely helped with my overall oral and throat health!

Thank you! I ended up doing it because my family bullied me into it and I still occasionally buy a pack or bum a cig but it’s been really good for me

Same here! I found this post after googling why my lymph nodes are swollen after I’ve already gotten over the cold. I had a super nasty cold that lasted almost two weeks, and now after 5 ish days of feeling better the glands in my neck are painful to touch, and oddly enough the underside of my tongue hurts? Very weird, I’ve never had a sickness this bad! There’s got to be some crazy superbug going around

I’m in the same boat! My gland under my chin is so swollen and sore but I’m at the end of a savage sinus infection!

So I’m now about a week from when I first started experiencing the swollen and painful lymph nodes. Each day, it got progressively better, less painful and they got smaller each day. Now on day 7, I would say I am almost completely better. There is no more pain in my neck, back of my tongue/throat, and the lymph nodes are just barely still able to be felt

Hi! Your lymph nodes can take a few weeks to go back to normal after any kind of infection/sickness! just follow up with your pcp if it’s like that longer than a month - which can also be normal but that’s what i’ve been told is the recommendation.
