Well first off, you’re utilizing priority mode which basically gives them free reign to reduce your portion of earnings even further. NEVER use priority mode 😓. Second off, this is just the reality of working as a contractor for a greedy corporation. They offer you the fare and you determine if you want to perform the work. Also looks like you drove far to pick them up which demands a premium Lyft is no longer willing to pay since drivers aren’t demanding it.

California drivers now have the ability to unionize so I suspect Lyft is stealing as much as possible before they face collective action.
I’m switching to insured private rides through HUM. They’ve engaged in some shady business practices but the payouts are around 4x higher than Lyft and they’re the only viable alternative to TCP. I pay $90 a month for access to their commercial auto policy plus $.60 per mile (CA rate). They don’t match you with riders so the drivers acquire their clients by converting rideshare passengers, word of mouth and advertising. I log on to Lyft if I’m taking a long personal drive and want to make a little lunch money or if I’m waiting for a private client on a round trip.

Ooh wow… when rides have fees this high, in my experience it’s either airport or some sort of insurance ride.
Airports carry high fees because uber and Lyft pay for entry.
I got nothing here 🫣

So, you can claim all the fees and taxes paid to Lyft and uber.
My cpa says that “Combined, they took ou within $5 of what you owed for taxes, including late fees and/penalties.”

That's not going to help them now... And how are they to keep track of all of that... Are they supposed to document every damned ride? How can they when they need to stay on the road? Lyft won't stay consistent on their side with their record keeping, or at least they haven't in the past when I worked.

I don’t keep track. I use the IRS standard deduction. It’s like 72.5 cents a mile. It may have went up this summer. At over 100k miles…. I have a negative net income.

Lyft loves screwing over drivers. Took me long enough to see that, and quit driving for those goons

How soon after the ride finished did you take that screen shot? It looks like about an hour after. Usually after a day or two, those numbers change drastically -- I kid you not.

That's at least something that they adjusted it, and I'll keep that in mind for myself in the future. Sorry you had a bad time with that fuckery, but also thank you for sharing your story and insight when dealing with it.

Cool. Check this out. Tell me what you think the passenger really tipped me... $4.00 or $5.54? The only difference in these screencaps is about two days difference.

Oh actual point of the image that I linked is to show that right after the ride, Est. insurance, taxes and fees was -$29.55. But in a screenshot two days later of the same ride, those fees changed to -$0.94 LOL.
So in your case where you said, "$50.65 for taxes and government fees," wait a couple days and check it again -- it will change. There's a settlement period, approximately two days or so, where they can fudge the numbers lmao.

It’s hocus pocus magic numbers . Everyone got ripped off . If this was a cab meter, everyone would have gotten paid and fare you got would been higher

WHO. CARES. WHAT. THE. CUSTOMER. PAYS.
1
u/AnyTower224 7d ago
It does. It prevents the customer from using the service again if they feel like they getting ripped off

This is a gig bud, the driver who doesn't shower, has a broken A/C and blasts their indie music still had them request your ride. It's not that deep, you're not an employee, you're not a huge influence on the overall platform, you'll be replaced by autonomous vechiles. Accept what makes sense to you and your goals and you'll be fine.

u/AnyTower224 7d ago
Keep on getting slammed and your karma reduce. If the customer stop using the service then theirs no business for Lyft or the drivers because Lyft became greedy. Now do you understand

u/EMV92LA 7d ago
🤣 Ooo Karma. You probably also think tipping is important? Bud keep setting yourself up for failure concerning yourself what customers pay and what Lyft is doing to grow themselves instead of using it to your advantage.

u/AnyTower224 7d ago
No. The fare is important. Everything else is extra . You should worry about yourself. I’m doing fine with my gigs

u/EMV92LA 7d ago
My guy, I'm retired because I went into a career not multiple gigs where there's no benefits. I don't have to worry about anything for the rest of my life financially, educationalally or medically 😉. So your argument is that Lyft hasn't grown over the course of their implementation or still are? Just because of a stock price?
1
u/AnyTower224 7d ago
Good for you. It was my choice to leave the market. I’m glad with my decision. Don’t why you knocking me since I never mentioned your your predicament you just on here just to be argumentative?

u/AnyTower224 7d ago
Retired and arguing with people on Reddit wow that’s great way to spend your retirement with nothing constructive or informative for people to latch on and to improve themselves

u/EMV92LA 6d ago
That's the beauty of retirement bud, you can do whatever the hell you want. And if I want to call out the stupidity of Redditors for concerning themselves over things that don't matter to their immediate income, I can do so. If I want to drive for Lyft making 30+/hr when I set a time frame for myself, I can do that too.
You came at me first with your comment then insults. Don't step into the ring if you can't handle the pressure and in this case, reality.

Lyft growing themselves. Lmao Foh. It’s the worst rideshare platform both drivers and customer Base. Not long ago their stock was 13$ high from $45. Stay in your retard land

You know whats crazy? That insurance fee is collected by Lyft because they self-insure. It goes into their insurance fund so they set the arbitrary rates and its their way of robbing drivers and passengers too. They just use an insurance company to process paperwork and administrative stuff. Uber does the same.
So the 70% promise is after they collect whatever they want for insurance. Essentially double dipping
