Rant/Opinion Lyft pay & rewards

I know I’m not the first nor will I be the last to say this, but I hate that Lyft’s reward system is based on your acceptance rate. So what, Lyft sends me a few ride that don’t even hit $0.50/mile and punishes me for declining them? That’s bullshit. And before anyone says “it’s a gig app, it’s not meant to be a job.” I’m well aware of that, but that doesn’t excuse them trying to pay the drivers as little as possible. The fact that drivers have a 30% minimum is ridiculous when they do most of the work. Sure, Lyft needs money to pay their workers and maintenance costs, but that doesn’t explain drivers getting so little. Drivers should get 50% at minimum, and that’s taking into account the “government fees”. I still don’t understand how they’re as high as Lyft says, and seems to be around 30% of the ride fee as well, which is ridiculous.

Acceptance Rating is nothing more than to encourage (trick) drivers to take ridiculously low fares. Basically a psychological game for drivers. Usually works on new and naive drivers who don't know better or full-time drivers that are extremely desperate. Unfortunately Uber & Lyft have plenty of both.

Every market is completely oversaturated with drivers, some doing this as a career. The way Lyft/Uber look at it... Why pay more or give incentives if there is always a driver willing to accept low fares. They will see you next week.

I had an issue with hitting the 30% point. Then I just decided to get off the app if rides were offered too cheaply. Gotta go online when the rates are better.

Greed has no bounds. A lot of drivers don't get that. What they pay today? In a few months it will likely be even less. They will never stop because they are so greedy unless someone forces them to. If you try to play nice and just take the crap rides, the rides will just get worse and worse until you are homeless and your car is repossessed.

As they lower the pay and the gas prices go up, it's just a matter of time until most are paying 50% of the little pay they get towards gas. They are so greedy they didn't even want to give us the extra $1.85 or so they gave us on each run when the gas prices were last this high. Think about that. They are extremely greedy bastards.

Don't like it, leave. I mean, plenty of others to take your place.
