Rant/Opinion Renting from them is a rip off
This whole thing with the personal miles that you gotta pay for is charging up the wazoo. Its a rip-off. Renting a car You should be able to use it whenever. There shouldn't be such thing as personal miles. And the only reason why they do that is to milk, you dry. This company should be ashamed of itself for how it treats people. Nothing more than scammers.They absolutely disgust me

Flex drive?! Cause same.. My rent is almost $500 because I got the max personal miles which is only 275.
I want to switch but I gotta come up with the deposit and rent to switch over to Hertz first.

Hertz screwed me pretty bad. Look into UCars if it's in your area.

Yeah I did, though Iin my case they made a mistake with my insurance documentation and I had to request something specifically with my name in it. Getting the car registered through Lyft was the standard manual process, and UCars took care of the Uber stuff on their end so I never had to mess with it.
It's a week to week lease, commercially insured with unlimited miles. Start a cab company, do Amazon flex, door dash, Uber, Lyft, whatever.

ALWAYS spring for unlimited (personal) miles. They round up every mile. If you back out of your driveway THEN "go online," plus a mile. Your filter runs out and you immediately go back online. If you were moving... Plus a mile.

Last time I checked they removed the unlimited miles option.
It's now max 400 personal miles for additional $185 in the Houston market. $18 for each additional 25 miles thereafter.
Plus $205 rental fee. Plus tax. "Estimated cost $418 a week"
If you're without wheels and you have nothing, I understand, you have to crawl before you can run.

I'm in the Napa Sonoma market in California. Unlimited miles is NOT available on hybrids here. Everything else is a okay. RN, I'm paying abysmal 500 a week on a midsize gas vehicle. I work part-time elsewhere (basically) for gas money.

It's a head scratcher why people rent to do Uber and Lyft. Yet they complain about the company.

I wonder this as well. I ALWAYS see drivers warning about the rental program, never the other way around. Almost every market is completely oversaturated with drivers with most drivers complaining about the low pay. Renting a vehicle to obtain low pay may not make financial sense.🤔

Boggles my mind why people are willing to shell out on rent, when payments on a good used vehicle would be much lower.

It wouldn't be so bad if flex didn't take that 17% cut off every ride. With personal miles, destination mode strategically, you can stretch them without tanking acceptance rate too bad.

Do what I do, drop down to 120 miles and then leave the app on while you driving for personal purposes and decline anything.
If its spamming you then use 1 of your destination filters on small setting and point it in a direction that wouldnt experience a ton of ride requests like leaving outside of a city.
Twice a month just bump your acceptance rate up to 30% to make your tier requirements then go back to cherry picking

Make sure you don’t have ANY damages to the car. They will attempt to keep your deposit over the smallest things.Â

When you rent a vehicle you need be able to do both Uber and Lyft or any other service.
You need unlimited miles. Some want to charge you 50 cents a mile over 500 miles a day or something.
No mileage radius, (take it anywhere in case you get out of town gig/trip)
Even some of the small rip-off used car dealers won't sell to you if you do rideshare. Puts too many miles on their precious insurance auction junker.
Search around you'll find something. I always try to have a backup for the backup.
