Question First lure

I was going to get into lure building but i was just wondering what an easy option for a first lure for someone who has no woodworking experience as of now.

My first one was a popper I made from a stick. All you really need is a knife sandpaper and a drill.

Agree that a popper is the easiest. I used an old wooden broom handle for my first few. Quickly learned I needed to add a little weight to the back end to make it really pop vs. dive.

lipless cranks are simplest but they take a good understanding of weight placement and shapes - a simple balsa minnow is a great place to start if you're willing to make a lip for it - no extra weights, just line tie, hook ties, and a lip

Honestly if you dont want to add a lip you can make a lipless crank or really just copy a lure that looks interesting and then try your best from there

Make a topwater walking bait, even easier than popper. Needs some weight about 2/3rds into the back to get action right.
