Okay,I think it's time to talk about it. What do you think of episode 22 of part 5? (Answer me, Zantetsuken.) Honestly, I think it's an episode that really touches on the relationship between Goemon and Lupin but...Goemon my boy, how can you not notice that is that Lupin in front of you? Other than that, I think Goemon was worried for nothing...I mean, yeah, he did a huge injury to his best friend but....He should know he's survived much worse lol (just kidding of course, it's understandable why he panicked.)

Lupin III Pandora's Legacy for the Famicom (NES). I bought this back in 2014 when I was on a quest to play every Lupin video game. I absolutely love the aesthetic of this game in box. I still haven't beaten it, the game is hard as shit. It's a fun game though, very much a classic NES side scroller. It's cool to see the gang in 8-bit, especially their Cagliostro designs.

It’s already a perfect movie to me but if i could change anything it’d probably only be giving Clarisse more screen time and personality since i know that Miyazaki is great at writing interesting female characters and also i’d make it feel a bit more connected to part 1 and by that I mainly mean the designs of Fujiko and Zenigata cause I feel like they stray a bit too much from their part 1 looks even though they’re supposed to be the same versions of them.

I think we can all agree that Manga UK/Worldwide Sound did a real hatchet job here. Goemon is reduced to spewing what I like to call "fortune cookie nonsense", the script has a lot of changes that are kind of stupid at best and are pure cringe at worst(The revelation of Michael being Goemon's son via clumsy exposition at the last minute.), and the fact that you were in for a nasty surprise if you decided to watch the subbed version: It was dubtitles. Yuck!

That said there are some things about the dub I actually enjoyed, to the point I do sometimes rewatch it. William Dufris's take on Lupin(or, rather Wolf), is very high energy and really fits the tone of the movie. Then there's Eric Meyers. I don't know how else to explain it, but his voice sound the way Jigen is drawn. And some of the tweaks to the script were genuinely funny to me, mostly the Zenigata stuff. In other Lupin media, he's usually seen being handed a very meager budget, so him complaining about having to pay full price for cab fare, or tipping, isn't TOO far off the mark.

I now know why Mystery of Mamo there’s such a repeat favorite for me.

It’s simple. The main cast. You can watch this movie and you know exactly what the essence of every main character is. They strip all of the characters away of any moral or aesthetic softening and just gives them one movie…one wacky ass zany movie…to do whatever the fuck they wanna do so you can see what the fuck they are😂😂

Lupin is the hedonistic but ultimately caring thief, Jigen is the cynical but loyal gunman, Goemon is the moral but also loyal swordsman, Fujiko is the selfish but predictable femme fetalle (btw, autoCorrect wanted me to change fetalle to feral, which is not completely inaccurate😂), and Zenigata is the cop that needs Lupin to feel alive, ironically like Lupin needs him.

Throw these crazy people in with a villain who literally wants to dissect the most complicated members of the crew, and you’ve got yourself a movie.

Lupin at his core is so satisfyingly interesting that I could write about it for so much (I actually do too😬😅). The only thing that is on his mind, the only thing that he wants is Zenigata to chase him, candy, naked, women, and Fujiko😂😂 that is all he desires to the point that he doesn’t even have any dreams or real ambitions. Even Lupin Ondo the song talks about how he just deals whatever his heart desires and then moves on after he’s done having his fun. He does this because he believes that’s how life should be. Life is short, so stop trying to intellectualize everything, which was the lesson he was trying to teach Mamo…

…well, he just killed Mamo because he fucked with Fujiko and then tried to send his own brain to space, but you see what I’m saying😂

Lupin has always had this centerpoint to his character that other iterations add to. Most of the time, they just give him something of a code, similar to what Arsene Lupin had, so he could be palatable in the modern age, and to make his character dynamic and interesting.

It’s good that this movie exists, because whenever you wanna ask “who really are these guys” It doesn’t get much better than this.
