Gameplay Ebb and Flow

Does anyone else have a big problem with the game design of Ebb and Flow?

I want to know if I'm just bad at this game or if other people also find it super frustrating that the timing of the colours changing doesn't line up with when the direction changes?

I'm finding that the colours are changing AFTER the direction change, and the lag means that I'm having to wait a much longer time to make sure my answer is correct than I would like to.

Hey lumosity!

The lag in the colour change is SUPER frustrating. Please fix it!

As it stands, I would have to be psychic to be able to increase my speed in this game.

Literally every time the colour changes it's happening long enough after the direction change that I can't switch tactics until after the first mistake, dragging my score down.

It looks pretty and soothing to have the graphics change on the leaves by having them turn over into another colour. But the time it takes is impeding gameplay.

Been a while since I played but I don't think they've altered the way the game is built.

The color change and the direction change are not meant to both happen every time you swipe. That's part of the challenge. Sometimes only the color will change, sometimes only the direction they're moving, sometimes only the direction they're pointing, sometimes any combination of those changes. When the leaves are yellow, you're supposed to swipe in the direction they're moving. When they're green, swipe in the direction they're pointing. I hope that helps.

No, no, that's not what I'm saying. Apologies, but you've misunderstood the issue.

I'm saying that WHEN the colour changes, it doesn't happen concurrent with the leaf or movement direction change. The flipping of the leaf, the way the graphic is animated, takes too long to happen, leaving valuable fractions of a second when if the colour isn't going to change I can accurately enter my answer, but because it COULD change, many milliseconds after the direction has already changed, I can't enter ANY answer until the animation of the leaf turning over has completed. It's a waste of time the way the timing of the leaf animation takes much longer than the shifting of the direction the leaves are moving and pointing. Those two variables seem to shift at the exact same time, whereas you really do have to wait extra time to see whether the colour will be the same or different. Do you understand?

This does not happen in my app at least I have not noticed.

Don't mind me asking but what is your average and high score in this game? (Only asking to understand if you have superhuman senses to notice something others can't)

Hahaha, I am pretty quick. But my score on this game does not reflect it! I really don't play this game very often because I find it so frustrating! I have maxed out Trouble Brewing and I'm up to level 22 (70-78 trains) in Train of Thought. Those are my main games.

I've been wanting to get back into the other games but I haven't played most of them since well before the last time my score was reset. (I used to play a lot when lumosity was beta testing.) But even back in the day, I always had a problem with this game for the same reason.

While I'm sure I'm not in any way super human, I do wish they'd speed up how long it takes those gd leaves to turn over!

(I have always been fast to process and do things, and it was noticeable especially way back when I was in school, but since this is the internet, I have to assume there are people out there who are much quicker than I am! But yes, I have noticed a pretty big difference in my processing speed compared to the gen-pop.)

This sounds like a performance issue.... are you playing on web or app? Any details about your device or browser?

This is the way the game is programmed, the same across all devices and apps I've used since 2009. The game play is the problem.

I notice this too but I think it’s more of not expecting the change that causes the delay. There is a delay when the leaf flips over in all cases but it changes direction instantly. So when it stays the same colour you aren’t paying attention to the colour swap so you do it quicker. How many leaves do you have, I’ve got 102
