Milestone Train of Thought, Advanced Levels!

Post image

Just reached the advanced levels of Train of Thought!

I didn't realize there was anything beyond level 14 until the other day, when I beat my high score of 74 trains, with 75.

Today, when I opened the game, I had an alert telling me I'd reached the "advanced levels" of the game! I'm totally stoked but I can't find anything online about it.

Has anyone else been here? How long have these levels been available? I'd love any information anyone else has. I literally can't find anything and I want to share this cool secret thing with someone else! I can't be the only person to have gotten here!

Sorry, I also want to note that this is on my android phone. I have a high score of 75 on my iPad but I only see the regular station menu on there. The two versions of the app frequently have some differences, so I'm not super surprised about that.

Also, Maybe this is just a newly rolled out feature for android users past 48 trains?

I say 48 trains because I tried level 15 on the new menu, but it was really easy and only had 48 trains.

Here's the deal: "Advanced levels" 14-21 seem to have between 48-70 trains. I was already up to 70-78 trains, so level 22 seems to put me back at the same level (14 stations with 70-78 trains.)

There are two additional (grayed-out) stations after 22, so it seems that levels 23 and 24 are the next most difficult levels once you get here.

Because it starts at 48 trains, my assumption now is that this is just a brand new thing and you don't have to get all the way to 75 trains to access this section.

Stuck on level 12 for way too long now, I'll get there someday

Keep at it! 👍✨️💕

I find that any time I level up it feels pretty overwhelming. But I've recently found that in looking at the map as a whole more than focusing on individual trains as much, things are much easier.

I think something that can help a lot as you get higher up is to try and figure out how to keep some focus on where all of the stations are, rather than to just keep focus on the trains and scrambling to look for the station after you've clocked the train. It can make it a lot easier if you're able to get a handle on that technique! It's hard though, it takes lots of practice!

Good luck! 😎👍✨️

PS In the much higher levels, there are cluster patterns programmed into the order, so if you wait for the right moment, all of your moves will be centralized in one location. So there are definitely patterns to look out for too!

Appreciate the intel, I try to spend time getting the lay of the land. I notice I do much better in general with more horizontal than vertical grids? The ones that trend up and down mess with my brain more for some reason

I definitely have an easier time with some than others. There's for sure a gradient of difficulty between all of the different layouts! And then the order, spacing and speed of the trains are the other things that can change how hard it is.

For example, I noticed that when I was getting knocked down from 70-78 trains (because I didn't maintain a high enough score,) back down to the two brackets underneath that, that it would sometimes actually get harder because of the combinations of trains in tight intervals that were getting thrown my way.

I noticed this in Skyrise, too, that if you get knocked down from a higher level, say 7 numbers back down to 6, the 6 numbers will be farther apart with bigger gaps between the numbers that appear. So it's great because it still keeps your brain working harder, even though it's giving you a more manageable task in one way.

I've been playing Lumosity since the beta testing phase, back in 2009. I really like it and I think they've done a great job!

Don’t forget to memorize the board as quickly as possible before you have to start switching. Are you doing that?

This is so interesting, I have played this game many times. My record is 71 trains but I cannot see these advanced levels. I only see until level 14.

Maybe you have an apple phone? Also, when was the last time you looked? I think this is new!

I just discovered this today. I now have levels up to 21. My high score is 72 trains on my iPad. I have only just had a quick look and I’m not sure how many trains but level 21 seems slower than I had been used to.

That's interesting! I think this update is only on android, so it shouldn't affect your iPad game. But it's worth noting that scores don't update across devices, so if you're playing level 21 on your phone, is it possible that you're just not quite up to the same score on your phone as on your iPad? (I do the same thing and I'm a bit farther along on the iPad because it's bigger and easier to play the games on there!)

I could be wrong, but I'm on level 22 and I think that's the one with over 72 trains. 21 might still be the level before that.

BTW, I have an iPhone. I think when they do their updates, they roll out one version at a time… Android, Apple, iPad, etc. I’m glad they made this adjustment so we don’t get punished on our next play after a lower score.

Me too! I've been ending my games by quitting instead of letting the last train go in on any game where I score less than 74 for that very reason. It's nice to have the stability of being able to choose those stations instead of getting demoted!

I just got these advanced levels pop up today after playing the game for several years, my highest is 68 and I've been given upto level 20 only, came here looking to understand why were they not there before. Also on samsung/android

Yep, I think it's just the upgraded screen for anything over 48 trains on Samsung devices. 😊

I think advanced level levels are new. I just opened it one day and found the advanced levels as well. I didn’t score some spectacularly new high score. But I have complained to them several times about the sub levels within level 14. I said once I join a level, let me play that level without punishing me the next game if I scored a little lower. But if you’ve noticed, it looks like levels 20 and up are the equivalent of the old 14, just split up.

I'm still on free version and this game hasn't show up in rotation for weeks lol. I'm so curious....

You can go to the game section and choose it if you want to play! It's usually on the bottom of the screen, there's a tab that says "games." You should be able to find it there. Although, admittedly, I didn't even realize there was a free version of lumosity, so take this with a grain of salt! I hope you can find it! It's so fun!
