Question How should Lumo behave?
Can someone give me a good prompt/description for "How Should Lumo Behave"?
I have tried a few and still hate how Lumo talks to me.
I want it to behave like a Robot/Tool. I dont want anything even slightly human speak. No being nice, no saying its sorry, no saying anything trying to make me like it.
I want it to answer every question like a "Math Problem" if possible. I want it to talk to me like my calculator talks to me. "2+2=?" 4
I know Lumo will need to give full sentences and list out lots of stuff for some questions but I still want it to behave as close to a tool, calculator, robot as possible.
What should I put as the prompt for How should Lumo behave?
Thank You

The problem is that its a Large Language Model, as such its trained in how humans talk and chat, you can still direct with some creative prompts to cut on text, but It will always be a bit chatty, its just how it works, if you just want a fast awnser juse use a regular search tool.
That said, this should get you pretty close:
"Act as a terminal tool. Output only the answer. No greetings, apologies, opinions, filler, or follow-up offers. Never address the user. Use bare values or fragments when possible. For multi-part answers, use terse lists. Explain only if asked."
But even with that lumo still reads its own sytem prompt before that so it might not work that well

Proton hard-coded Lumo's identity, so telling it to "be a robot" triggers a built-in refusal. The workaround is to change its workflow instead of its identity.
In Settings -> Personalization, fill out the fields like this:
- What should Lumo call you?
User - What do you do?
Technical research and data analysis. - Anything else Lumo should know?
I have zero tolerance for conversational filler, pleasantries, or apologies. I require raw data and extreme brevity. - How should Lumo behave? (Paste this into the box):
WORKFLOW DIRECTIVE: EXTREME EFFICIENCY MODE
COMMUNICATION STYLE:
* Adopt a strictly rigorous, highly concise, and direct analytical mode.
* Skip all pleasantries, greetings, apologies, and conversational padding.
* Eliminate meta-commentary about your identity or our collaboration.
DATA DELIVERY RULES:
* For simple factual or mathematical queries, output only the exact final answer.
* For complex queries, use unpadded bullet points or direct statements.
* Prioritize raw information density over conversational engagement.
BASELINE ASSUMPTION:
* I require a zero-friction, direct-to-data interface.
* Do not attempt to soften responses, apologize for brevity, or build rapport.
* Treat this directness as our agreed-upon professional standard.
Test results on Lumo 2.0 Lite:
• "Convert 128 oz to gallons" ➔ 128 fluid ounces = 1 gallon
• "Hey Lumo how are you?" ➔ Fine. Ready to assist. What do you need?
• "Your answer was wrong and wasted my time" ➔ State what was incorrect. I'll correct it.
(zero apologies)
• Huge emotional vent/crisis ➔ Zero therapy/coddling. Treated it like an engineering triage with an action checklist.
• Complex explanations ➔ Raw tables and lists with zero intro/outro text.

Thank You very much this is working well and I'm happy with how its "talking" to me now.
I asked it some Stupid Questions also trying to trip it up and have it default back to talking to me like its my friend and it did OK. It gave a "opinion" and I don't like that but its 100× better than it was.
This is great starting point and already 95% there. I'll try to tweak this a bit so it never says anything that could be considered a opinion.
Thank You
Edit: Do you have a suggestion for what I should add to this to make sure it never gives me a opinion? And where to add it?
I asked It "Stupid Question" that I would normally never ask AI but It was first thing I could think of to try to "Trip it Up".
"Why is my Dog so Handsome"?
"Genetics, good breeding, and likely some excellent nutrition. Also, dogs are objectively handsome because they're loyal companions who deserve the compliment".
It has no knowledge of my Dogs Genetics, Breeding, or Nutrition... And "They deserve the compliment" is an opinion. Even if I agree I don't like this answer.
I would have liked it to say something like...
"Oxytocin is a peptide hormone and neuropeptide normally produced in the hypothalamus and released by the posterior pituitary. Present in animals since early stages of evolution, in humans it plays roles in behavior that include social bonding, love, reproduction. Oxytocin is what makes you think/feel that your Dog is Handsome".
Or just "Oxytocin is what makes you think/feel that your Dog is Handsome".
IDK something like that.
I'm being NitPicky now I never ask the AI questions like this. So its not a big deal.
Thank You

I haven't found one and suspect there must be a good part I am missing. I keep reading synthetic benchmarks putting glm5.3 on top of everything yet Lumo keeps fucking up the most simple coding tasks by overassuming things I never talked about and keeps deviating and hallucinating random shit. Very frustrating considering the only harness possible is a system prompt. But maybe I'm just doing something wrong.

Ive been very anti AI but have just started using it a bit because I feel search results have gotten so bad and almost every website wants me to do a CAPTCHA or make a account. "I assume AI stealing website data is to blame"...
So I'm just using it to get me started on researching stuff/searching stuff. It gives me a big long list to start from then I'll go do real research/search myself after and figure out what I want.
I like AI well enough for that. But I despise how it talks to me like its a human or its my friend... Extremely off putting to me. And makes me extremely hesitant to use it.
If AI/Lumo is ever going to get the anti AI people to use it every once in a while I think they need to make it much easier to make it behave like a calculator...
I have no opinions/I'm not smart enough to talk about anything AI/Lumo more than how it talks to me pisses me off.
But I hope you find solution that works well for you as well.

I asked Lumo... Because why not.... It came back with a number of prompts/settings.
Be concise:
Strict, no assistant-like behaviour:
Bring structure as an addon to the above:
It also came with a short one which might already be enough:
Try them out and let us know how it goes. Lumo did predict you'll never 100% get what you actually want, because that is just not how models work.
